Hi all,

I'm in need of some advice of thats ok! I will try and keep this as short as possible!!

Background, I received a letter from Copes July last year, acting for Arrow Global regarding a phone bill, i called them up as I was scared by this, and spoke to Transcom who must work with Copes (?) and agreed £20 per month. Filled in the Standing order form and sent it off, didnt think anymore of it. They called me at the beginning of March this year to say that as my Bank Account was with a certain bank that i would have to go into the Branch to set the S.O up, which I did. They hadnt taken any money out my account so far, but I hadnt noticed tbh as I had lost my job and my jobseekers money was used to pay everything!! I called them to let them know that I had set up the S.O for 28th of the month, they said fine, if they didnt receive it they would be in touch, payment has came out fine and havent heard anything from them!

On Fri, I received a letter from Fredricksons dated 26th March saying that they are instructed by Arrow global to collect payment in full as I have ignored previous attempts to collect, do not ignore as this is serious.......

I'm confused and dont know what to do about this! Who do I contact RE this, Arrow, Transcom or Fredrickson?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

thanks!!!

You pay what you can afford, it is your money. Write one letter tp Fred's saying you have no work and this is my offer, and remind them that no court will make you pay more than you can afford. £20 is a lot of money if you are getting benefits.

I have no legal training, any knowledge I have has come from this forum, and my own experiences. Always balance up any advice you get with your own common sense.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I'm working part time atm so I can pay this at a stretch, tbh I just want them off my back!!!

I'm confused as I'm paying Transcom but Fredrickson are chasing me for this now!! Why are two companies chasing for the same debt!! If Transcom passed this back to Arrow who then assigned it to Fredrickson, then surely its against the rules for Transcom to take my £20!

Should I contact Arrow to tell them that I am paying Transcom and this shouldnt have been passed back to them!!!

Arrrghhhhhhhh!!!! LOL!!!

if its being bounced around it sounds like you are on a phishing list and they all want their pound of flesh.

is this bill for real or p'haps are you takin them on face value that you owe it.

Hi,

Its a mobile phone bill for Orange.

It is my debt, its old and would probably be statute barred by now but I aknowledged it by sending in the Standing Order Form last year, unfortunately I didnt know anything about this site then!! :(

I am prepared to pay it, thats not the issue, but I just dont understand why if I have an arrangement in place with Transcom why I now have Fredrickson on my back!!

I think I will just contact Arrow regarding this and see what they say!

urm....

i wouldn't be too worried about sending that SO and it being used as evidence you ack'ed the debt.

it is typical for dca's to 'push' you into paying more

TBH: i'd only offer £10. if anything to anyone.

also you need to stayoff the phone

NEVER talk to a DCA on the phone, in writing only.

how close is it to 6yrs?

when was your last in/out.

i'd fight this.

First off Prove it letter.

Freddys are threat Monkeys and I have to say pretty good at it, if good means bad.

I'd make it £5 if anything...

...and really if you are paying its next to impossible to get more out of you they have NO legal leg to stand on, the court may make you pay more but before it gets to that stage they will have to prove you are avoiding the debt which you are not by paying £5 a month.

Its great isn't it:cool:

Of course they will try and scare you but once your on here you become unscareable

We live in an unmoderated country why should the net be any different?

Bring back free speech we miss it!

Agreed, mobile phone bills are the in thing with DCA's of this calibre at the moment .

If the debt was Sb and you made a payment toward it, then this DOES NOT unbar the debt, nor will it restart the limitation clock. That said, if you were in your fifth year of the limitation act and have paid them, then that would reset the SB clock.

So really, I would be checking all of my bank statements for the last six years to see if anything was paid to them.

As well as sending them th 'Prove it' letter as already suggested, and drop those payments right down, to the legal minimum token payment until they can prove that a) this debt even exists, b) that it isn't SB.

Have you rang Orange to find out what the total amount outstanding was before they sold it? This way then you can see if these bottom feeders have added any of their laughable and totaly unenforceable charges.

What does your CRF say?

Transcom bought 'Newmans' but I can't find any link between all three?

I do remember in the past of Orange mobile phone 'debts' being fabricated by these, they even rang one alleged debtor telling her she owed Orange 230 odd quid, when in fact she had never had an orange contract and had always used Voda, PAYG:shock:

Sounds very fishy to me, drop the amount you are paying until they can prove this debt even exists first.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!
