Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forums and am about to go into battle with the usual subjects (MBNA, Cap One) etc and have been reading the relevant threads with great interest. I have to confess to being a little confused though, especially having read the thread "Why not to use a CCA request". My first question therefore is really simple.... should my first step be a CCA request or should I just dive straight in and request the DSAR?

Thanks in advance for all your help

I was in the same boat as you - the "why not to use..." thread seemed a bit hardcore for my first letters, so I sent the standard letter (I'm about half way through the 12+2 period) with the plan on going the other route if needed.

I'm still comfortable with this approach - give it a few weeks and I may change my mind, though.

HTH,

Mike

It depends what you want to find out ......

If you just want your CCA then just request that from the DCA/OC

However if you want to know any charges added to the account ect then you will need to send a SAR

Thank you Saintly - right now I just want copies of the agreements etc, I think charges etc will have to wait until I have my head around things a bit more. My confusion came from the thread "why not to do a CCA request" as it seemed to me, from that thread, that I would get a true and fair copy whereas if I did a SAR i might actually get a copy of the agreement. Also if I do a SAR should I again send the fee by postal ordre so as my signature can't be "borrowed"?
