I would suggest that before you read anything else, you have a good read of the FAQs. Next read the step-by-step guide, then the threads in the forum of your bank. This will give you a good idea of what to expect at different stages of your claim.

Start your own thread in the appropriate bank forum and post any info on your progress and any questions in that.

The answers will not be far away.

Follow the well-tried and tested procedures given on this site and you will be OK. :)

If this has been useful to you, please click on the scales at bottom left of post. Thanks.

hey all again!

after sending 1st letter to barclays they replied within seven days.

they stated that they are looking into my complaint and will get back to me within 4 weeks, but no later than the 30th August 2006. It is now the 28th August 2006, and I have not heard anything as yet. They still do have 2 days left, however if they don't reply within this time what shall I do?

Shall I call them via telephone?

Shall I send a further steps letter?

???

any help very much appreciated!

Hey guys!

I have, this morning recieved a letter from barclays stating that when an account is opened all of the banks, and customer terms and conditions are explained. So therefore they have said, "In view of my comments I am unwilling to refund charges you have incurred as requested".

Yesterday I posted the LBA. Is this the correct thing to do? Or am I just chasing pipe dreams???

All advise welcome.

Thank you.

It is the correct thing to do.

Use the time to look through the step by step guide and look at some of the posts in here to give yourself a good understanding of the way forward.

heya guys!

It's been 4 days now since I sent the LBA, I have this niggling thought in the back of my head that I have miss calculated my charges. I think I have asked for more than what I am entitled to. Is this a major problem or could I get away with saying it was a typing error? or doesn't it matter?

Any structural help much appreciated.

Thnx

Ackers17.

You do need to make sure your figures are correct because if you intentionally request more money back than you're due, it could be deemed as fraud.

Look at your figures again, I would suggest you re-submit an LBA with the corrected figures and advise them that is why you're resubmiting it, but still stick to your timeline. My understanding is that you can correct/amend claim figures right up until it gets to court.

If you read all the threads in this Barclays section and also familiarise yourself with the FAQ's, you will find the answers to all your questions so far. It really makes fascinating reading especially the barriers and delaying tactics that Barclays use and, more importantly, how others have successfully handled them.

I am forever reading as many threads as I can and, when I come across something new or something that I think I may need later in my case, I save it to my favourites. If there's anything I am not sure about, I will ask but, so far, I've not needed too much help. In fact, I have started answering other peoples' questions.

In answer to your latest question though, you will most probably get some kind of offer in the coming days - unless the discrepancies in your figures are way out. I would certainly follow Crashbandicoot's advice as soon as possible and double, treble and quadruple check your figures.

I received an offer from them 5 days after sending the LBA. I refused it.
