Well I WAS considering approaching BH as it would appear to be the only way to replace a faulty TV (not theirs) and sofa which is falling apart. After reading this lot, not a chance in hell!!! They'd have more luck raising the Titanic with a row boat and needle and thread than having MY custom.

DCA's - they have the same power as an infinite number of untrained chimps working on a script for Hamlet, but the chimps would probably at least get it right :D

Harrasment indeed!!

I had the same happen to me real bad harrasment even the Police were called.

I gathered good evidence and before you know it i recieved these letters from brighthouse wiping thousands of pounds from my account with them, Only had my account less than a few months!!!

Add insult to injury i also got them to replace the laptop charger to which i was given the wrong one and it blew up :(

So they decided instead of getting me a brand new one from there stock of thousands they went to argos and got me the same make and model.

This has probably been said a million times over record everything from calls inbound/outbound to visits can make life easier in the long run when these moraless alley cats start denying things. :?

Regards

Hi, I have been a good customer of Perfect Homes Wallsend Branch always in credit for times I could not get to store. Always let them know if they had to take payment from extra moneys I paid in to them. When my husband was rushed into hospital recently I have spent most of my time at his bedside. He desperatly needs Heart Surgery but his Heart is too weak just now so it really is Life or Death! Close Family live all over the place or work means they cannot stay by him. I pay on a Monday and the day he was rushed into hospital I was with him I phoned Wallsend and got no reply so the following Wednesday( when family stayed close to him) I popped to the Newcastle Shop from the RVI Hospital.

The Staff had trouble ringing Wallsend and demanded more money from me which I didn,t have with me so I gave them a little extra anyway, but was told I must pay the following weeks earlier! Monday I was called to Hospital and late afternoon Perfect Homes called me at the Hospital I told them where I was and they abrubtly said Friday and no later, thier manner really upset me,(I had enough on my plate and was physically worn out with being on hand at the Hospital) Friday, I was in talks with my husbands specialist and didn,t make it to Wallsend as Husband was referred to Freeman Hospital.I went outside to answer the call from Staff of Wallsend Branch who DEMANDED MONEY NOW.

I said I would make arrangement to have payment on Tuesday as Family were there to give me a rest, the man on the phone asked what Hospital I was at I was stupid and told him his reply was RIGHT I,LL SEND THE BOYS TO THE HOSPITAL TOMORROW THEY,LL GET THE MONEY OFF YOU. I have cried all night can,t sleep and am terrified to go out but I have to go to Hospital to be there incase anything happens to my Husband.I have about four weeks and my washer is paid off after a faultless three years payments. All this over one payment not being payed on the correct day....

I would tell everyone to stay away from these Bullies.

Dear Foamy

Please please please try and get in touch with your Local Trading Standards Office ( through your local council) I would also suggest talking to the Citizens Advice Bureau and tell them what is happening, ge them to send a stongly worded letter or a call to the head office of Perfect Homes, they have no right to threaten you like this. How dare they!

I hope your Hubby gets well again soon, my best wishes coming your way

I am so sickened by the whole thing ,I had one of Thier Boys at my Door early in the Morning and I didn,t dare answer but a card was put through the Door "To Discuss your one week payment" until the Day before it was only a Late Payment. I phoned Wallsend and got the Bully Boy.He said "Well you invited me to the Hospital for payment",I said he threatened me but he just laughed then demanded payment that day.I asked for the amount I actually owe to finish the Washer Off. It,s £27.00p final payment, I will pay this but I hope to get some justice from the OFT or CAB. I have to pay tomorrow or they will be coming for me and tomoorrow is my Husbands Operation. I am so annoyed now and afraid to go to the Store. What a mess I only got the Washer out of desperation and no ready cash at the time.I had just turned 60 and pensions were all to hell at the time.

Never again and I will warn everyone to keep away from these people, They are Bullies and Cowards.

ps : He couldn,t care less about Consumer Rights ect they deal out the Rights.

Man was at door early morning I was scared to answer but he shoved a card through the door to "Discuss Payment of one week" the day before it was only a late payment.

I phoned Wallsend Store same Bully Boy answered Demanding I pay up when I remarked about his threats He just laughed and said I invited him to the Hospital ....

I owe £27.00p and the washer is finished.I am too scared to go to the Store to pay it off completely so will have to find another one .Husband gets his operation tomorrow so will have to be quick.

I hate Perfect Homes for what they did to me and I hope I can take things further as they can prove dangerous to vunerable people. Anyone totally on thier own would be a target just as I am as a pesioner. Thanks for the time you gave for replying.Bless You. I thought my first reply had disapeared so sorry for repeating myself.

Hi there,

Im also having a problem with perfect homes, so im hoping someone can help or advise me, I bought a TV from PH about 3 years ago now, i too pay the coverplus this and the TAD thing, my acount is up to date but my problems is that a about 5 months ago now the TV broke so i contaced PH and about 5 days later they gave me a loan TV, my TV was away for repair for almost 2 months and when it was finally brought back to me it broke again 2 days later with a different fault, so once again i was without a TV until they could get me the loan one, the loan 1 i have and still have (as mine is beyond repiar) is the same make and model as my original TV but it is no way as good as it, the pictures not 100% and tv is makred n scratched, i didnt complain as it was only on loan.

Anyway the problem im having is getting any information from Perfect home about when my new tv is going to be delivered, first i was told i would get a new tv, then i was told no u will get a refurb one but a newer model, and today when i went in and asked again i was told i could just keep the loan one as thats all im entitled to, No way was i having this so i got the manager told, he tried to fob me off but i told him straight the tv isnt upto the standard of mine, and that ive been told 3 different things from his staff and im not happy about it, im almost certain i was told if my tv ever did break it would be replaced with a new 1 and thats why im paying for the cover on it.

What im thinking now is to take the tv back ( i can as ive got the cover plus on it) and just buy a new 1 from a normal store, or can i take it back, leave it a month or so then take another 1 out with them and get the money ive paid of this one deducted from it.

Any help or advice on this would be really appreciated.

Thanks

loops :)

Can the Optional Service Cover with Perfect Homes be cancelled at any time after signing the contract?

I say this because I have a lady who took out a Perfect Homes HP agreement for a TV and signed up to the OSC and additional insurance upon sign up... Perfect Homes said the TV would be delivered within 14 days.

However, she cancelled the OSC after her husband complained about the cost roughly 10 days after signing... one she had done this PH decided to cancel the entire agreement and not deliver the goods.

Bear in mind she had, by now, made her first weekly payment upon sign up and then another one a week later - therefore 2 payments totalling £46 had been made which were not refunded.

Is this a sales tactic they use? Cancelling the order completely if the OSC is cancelled within the "delivery period"? The period to me sounds like a scheme where PH can assess the risk the customer poses to the firm both in reliability of paying weekly (hence taking two weekly payments before even delivering the product) and also how savvy the customer is about the contract.

What a load of absoloute rubbish, they cannot bring a locksmith and break into your house, they are just using scare tactics to try to get you to pay up,even if you stopped paying altogether all they could do is get a court order for the return of the goods, and it would be up to you to send them back, they couldnt break in themselves so dont worry, its all bluster. In fact returning the goods seems like a good idea, its only a rent to buy store anyway,at least you would be free of these sharks.Miss a payment and you have shop staff comming round knocking on your door making useless threats with no legal basis,no they cannot come into your home, but my view is take the fridge and television back to P.H andif you cannot afford new buy second hand at least you wont be worring every time there,s a knock at the door, and you wont be handing over a fortune over the next year or two.

now the problem i have is.. the wii should have been paid off months ago yet im still paying for it now.. the manager doesnt know why, the area manager doesnt know why either and nor does his manager.. i dont see why i should keep paying something that should have been paid off already.

Has anyone else had a problem like this also?

No idea. Sounds like a cock up.

Send a Subject Access Request to them and see how many statements come through the post. Do the calculations and if it doesn't add up in your favour then keep paying. If you have paid over and above, write back here and we'll help.

I got a tv off PH in around Jan 08, and moved in Nov 08, the week we moved in we were out and got burgled, and the tv stolen, we had the coverplus and the tad so when I told them the tv had been stolen they told me to come in to the shop and pick a new tv, which I did. Anyway I said to them would the payments from the other tv come off the price of the new one as I had paid about £700-£800, he said no I would have to start the payments from the start again, which I have been doing, but then a family member told me they should of took the payments off, as with her house insurance if she has anything that is rental or on hire purchase and it is stolen they give her the full amount for a new item then she just carries on paying what she owes on the item and whatever is over from the insurance is hers.

So does anyone know should of I had to make payments from the start again or got the money knocked off my new tv???

Depends what your coverplus plan said in 2008. Do you have a copy to post up?

Hi

I would imagine that Perfect Home simply based the "Theft and Damage Cover" (TAD) on BrightHouse "Damage Liability Cover" (DLC). The policy will ONLY cover your OUTSTANDING payments on an agreement. There is NO replacement cover. You are ONLY insuring your LIABILTY on the agreement. Here's an extract from our CAG BrightHouse factsheet. See the full document HERE

DAMAGE LIABILITY COVER (DLC)

“Damage Liability Cover” insurance policies are underwritten by BrightHouse themselves (through associate company Caversham Insurance (Malta) Ltd), and added to your hire purchase agreement as yet another additional weekly/monthly payment.

“…We may require you to take out Damage Liability Cover if you do not have home contents cover…”

Actually, there is very little “may require” about it. This additional insurance policy (around £250 on a £800 cash price product) is loaded AUTOMATICALLY and will only be removed if you can supply proof of "suitable" home contents insurance. (Of course, BrightHouse reserve the right to determine what is and what is not "suitable". In fact, very few home contents policies will specifically include items subject to a hire purchase agreement, and agree to settle with the finance company in the result of a claim.)

Nevertheless, you are led to believe this insurance covers the goods for damage, theft, fire, flood etc. But, unlike “real” home contents insurance it WILL NOT provide you with any replacement should it become necessary (not even like-for-like), and will only ever, at best, release you from your agreement with BrightHouse. You end up with NOTHING. In fact, you may even end up with a policy excess to pay (up to £100 in some cases) particularly on portable items – laptops, cameras and game consoles for instance.

Furthermore, in the event of a claim, the store manager will have the final say as to whether the policy should apply. He may, for instance, decide the goods where stolen or damaged because you didn’t secure or look after them adequately

Most people - even those who live in "high risk" insurance areas - can insure the entire contents of their home for less than BrightHouse charge for Damage Liability Cover on a single item!

Cheers

Hi all,

I'am a current customer with Perfect Home and I'am just looking for advice regarding my present situation.

Coming towards the end of Janaury my weekly paid Agency job was about to end and I was to go on the books at my work placement permanently which resulted in a monthly paid salary, so I rang Perfect Home to advise them that I would have to miss my payments until the end of February when I would receive my first payment (this meant missing four weeks worth of payments), and I would pay on the 28th of Feb along with any charges that had accrued, I was told that someone would get back to me, they didn't and I rang them today to talk about the situation because I have received a missed payment letter and a couple of missed calls (I work nights so sleep during the day), they told me that if I didn't pay my account upto date by the end of the week it would go to the collection dept at Temple Finance who will come out and remove my goods (yeah, like I'am going to let them).

I sdives them that I had been a good customer for the past 3 years and they were being a bit unreasonable, they didn't seem to think so.

The same will probably happen through next month as well, while I sort my finances out, I will then be in a position to make my payments weekly again, so we are talking about making my payments at the end of the month for two months alonf with any charges etc..

So, my question is this, what legal rights do I have with this situation, any literature to back it up considering I did make them aware of this (nobody remembers my original phone call by the way) .

Thanks, any help will be appreciated.

from an ex brighthouse/crazy gerorge delivey driver and shop assisant

here is how it is

brighthouse was crazy georges they started well and did well, now i know i will get a lot of hate for this but all in all they are wer a good company, the most recent ceo of bh when i last knew was the ceo of woolworths, i have seen the good the bad and the ugly delivering to these people and sometimes felt my life could be in danger but i was profesional and got on with the job, somtimes things wer done wrong and even us as delivery drivers wer put in very very bad situations by the comapny(BH) itself, but at the end of the day the customers that (from my experiance) treated the staff right with respect got the same back, some of there ruels wer silly and somtimes i did feel realy sorry for the customer, you can send your proudcts back at any time with no extra cost but you must have thier very expensive insurance thingy they will then hold your product for a certain time until you can afford it again, they may not send your orginal back but the same or better, if you default and keep they will take you to court if you default and send the product back thats the end of it! if you use it well you can be a valued customer by sending items back each time you get in a fix. the worst thing i used to see was people keeping the items cuz they couldnt afford the at that time then being branded a BAD CUSTOMER but the ones that sent them back and then had them again wer consider good customers and the real good thing was what ever you had paid on your agrement was transfered onto your new argement, i would still work for them now but my life changed, i had good and bad times with bh but all in all i did enjoy working for them and it was nice to see people happy when you had installed a new tv and set up all there tv extraas sky, dvd, surround sound etc. on that note its upto you if you purchase from bh.ph just read and understand ALL the argements you sign.

No. they can ask for the items back, but if you don't allow them access, there's nothing they can do.

Send them this letter:

Dear xxxx

Account Ref xxxx

Please be advised that I will only communicate with you in writing. I have noted your repeated attempts to contact me by telephone over the past few weeks/months and these have been duly logged by time and date.

Furthermore, should it be your intention to arrange a “doorstep call”, please be advised that under OFT rules, you can only visit me at my home if you make an appointment and I have no wish to make an appointment with you.

There is only an implied license under English Common Law for people to be able to visit me on my property without express permission; the postman and people asking for directions etc (Armstrong v. Sheppard and Short Ltd [1959] 2 Q.B. per Lord Evershed M.R.).

Therefore take note that I revoke license under Common Law for you, or your representatives to visit me at my property and if you do so, then you will be liable to damages for a tort of trespass and action will be taken, including but not limited to, police attendance.

Yours faithfully,
