"But I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man and so is Lola"

Wht are the Kinks saying here? Are they glad Lola is a man? As is sounds like it to me.

No, not at all. He is glad he's a man and Lola is glad he's a man

For clarification of what I mean both are happy that the first one is a man

Irony is defined as "conveyance by meaning by words whose meaning means the literal opposite". Alanis - please note - you are using the word incorrectly. I'm sure you will apperciate me pointing this out:

"Ironic"

An old man turned ninety-eight

He won the lottery and died the next day

It's a black fly in your Chardonnay

It's a death row pardon two minutes too late

And isn't it ironic... don't you think

It's like rain on your wedding day

It's a free ride when you've already paid

It's the good advice that you just didn't take

Who would've thought... it figures

Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly

He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye

He waited his whole damn life to take that flight

And as the plane crashed down he thought

"Well isn't this nice..."

And isn't it ironic... don't you think

It's like rain on your wedding day

It's a free ride when you've already paid

It's the good advice that you just didn't take

Who would've thought... it figures

Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you

When you think everything's okay and everything's going right

And life has a funny way of helping you out when

You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up

In your face

A traffic jam when you're already late

A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break

It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife

It's meeting the man of my dreams

And then meeting his beautiful wife

And isn't it ironic...don't you think

A little too ironic...and, yeah, I really do think...

It's like rain on your wedding day

It's a free ride when you've already paid

It's the good advice that you just didn't take

Who would've thought... it figures

Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you

Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out

Helping you out"

This is not irony, sweetie!

He's just a poor boy from a poor family

Spare him his life from these pork sausages

Hands up who can hear Freddie spinning in his grave? (with laughter, knowing him!)

:p Wanting out of the red and into the pink! :p

If I've been nice please tip my scales. If I've been naughty, tip 'em twice! ;)

LOL HC!

What about that Kurt Cobain geezer and smelly teenagers, eh?

Here we are now, in containers

Not to mention the ironic Alanis...

It's not fair

To deny me

Of the cross-eyed bear that you gave to me...

:p Wanting out of the red and into the pink! :p

Or the Hot dog song by Celine Dione

'I believe that the hot dogs go on' - from Titanic

' I want to staple the vicar' - We are family - Sister sledge

I thought it was:-

Just let me staple the vicar

We're giving love in a femidom

A couple more that I thought of:

'all I do is Chinese things' (actually is 'all I do each night is pray' - Take That or someone like)

And the song about the 'paper jeans' which irritates me - bit chilly in this weather I would think:p
