  2. Hi I have a 4 year old Focus Cabriolet, its very lightly used and only done 17K miles. 6 weeks ago when I put the folding roof back up there was a horrible noise, the mechanism had gone faulty and as a result the roof crunched into itself and the car of that a plastic trim was broke. I took it to a Dagenham Motors who simply replaced the trim, I asked when the roof was ok and then said theyve taken it off, lubed it up and its fine which to be honest didnt fill me with confidence but I accepted it 2 weeks later and only the 2nd time having the roof down after the repair the mechanism went again and this time theres loads and loads of damages to several panels, scratches on the interior etc, basically it caused a real mess and will cost a small fortune to repair. I took it back to Dagenham Motors and after a few hours I received a call and they said the bushes in the mechanism were heavilly worn and needed replacing, its out of warranty but they would have a word with ford. Ford so far have just messed me about, everytime I chase it up they just keep asking me more questions like how many ford cars Ive bought etc etc they said they were looking at it from a goodwill standpoint. My question is, do I have any come back on dagenham motors for the repair? they should have spotted the heavilly worn bush in the first place when they had the roof off, it only took them 2 hours to find them the next time, I spent £300 for them to replace a plastic trim, they told me it was fine to use and now because it wasnt fixed the faulty mechanism has caused a hell of alot of damage including the trim they replaced? OR Have I got any comeback on the sales of good act and that the roof isnt fit for purpose? the car has got 17K miles, I must have had the roof down less than 100 times during that time, also Ive checked the service schedules and there is absolutely no mention of inspection on the roof mechanism so I assume it shouldnt be heavilly worn after a few years. Many thanks for any help
  3. Hi, I hope you guys can help, i was looking on the internet for answers and found this thread "316924-2005-Ford-Focus-TDCi.-Turbo-issues-new-engine-required" (sorry cant post the link) so i thought i would start one about my problem. I bought a used Focus from an authorised FORD dealer at the end of October '11. I took the extended warranty coverage option at a cost of approx £400 for a year. After 5 months the turbo blew and the garage replaced it with a new one as a warranty job. about 2000 miles later it blew again and this time the garage put a new one on and changed the vacuum pump (i think) as well as do a complete flush of the engine etc etc (i think they were following that Technical bulletin referred to in the other thread this second time) The garage did this work themselves and it wasnt paid for by Ford protect under warranty. I can only assume the garage felt they hadnt done the first one right. 2000 miles turbo blows again, its now June '12 .... this time the garage told me that it would have to be a new engine and FORD technical dept agreed with the service manager on this, FORD said the engine had to be stripped and inspected, when it was inspected FORD said that it was a build up of carbon and therefore warranty wouldnt cover this. I still havent had the issue resolved and have been without my car this whole time, although the garage did give me a courtesy car which i am still driving. The garage was in discussions with FORD and say that FORD as a goodwill gesture have now agreed to pay for a second hand engine, they have sourced one with 65000 miles (5k more than my old one) I said i wasnt happy with this and want a new engine, this second hand engine will come with a 3 month warranty which they say will take me beyond my warranty anyway, i have warranty cover up until september but from my perspective i had a car for 5 months of a 12 month warranty period where it worked the rest of the time the car has in effect been broken. My questions are : - Can FORD really do a warranty job with a second hand engine and not a new one, they say this engine will put me back to where i was but i dont see it that way, i will have an engine that i know nothing about that could break in 3 months time or have reduced power etc etc and have no protection - where would i stand legally challenging this as the car had a full service history from FORD authorised dealer, i bought the car from same dealer, paid for extended warranty and car didnt make it to its first service and lasted 5 months before it started blowing turbos ... can i force them to give me a new engine? Any help would be greatly appreciated, i am getting the run around and its taking up a lot of time and causing a lot of stress. ownership of the problem seems to bounce between FORD and the dealer cheers john
  4. Hi all, What do yous think of this? In june 2011 I took my 08 Mk4 Tit to gargage with stiff steering, they told me that the steering pump needed changed and the reservoir also. £700 later at the dealer the problem seemed fixed. In Jan 12 the problem started to rare its head, took the car back to them and sure enough the pump had failed. This happened in April and was fixed again. Now just last week the exact same problem popped up. Only differance now is, they're saying the steering rack needs replaced at a costly some of £1100. It seems like Ford are pulling my pants down here and are clutching at straws as they don't know what the problem was and now wanting me to pay another large some of money to fix their crap/faulty parts which seem to be all over the Mk4. Has anyone had a similar experience? or can anyine advise me on what to do? Many Thanks, Will
  5. Hi All, I found a letter from FCE Bank showing the agreement number. registration number, overall monthly payment and the date of agreement of 22/07/97. The letter states that my PPI paperwork was included, unfortunatly I was unable to find the policy, just this letter. I then sent a SAR to FCE and they have returned my cheque with a letter stating: Under Data Protection laws we retain account information for six years from the closure date of the account and therefore no longer have the information that you have requested. I have managed to work out that PPI for this car loan was approximately £88.70 per month over 5 years. I do not have a legiable copy of the agreement, hence the SAR, just the letter. Is it worth while sending them a PPI claim based on what I have or do I need more evidence to support my claim? BP
  6. Hi can anyone help? Requested SAR information from Ford they refered back to the Ford dealership who do not answer letters, and when I call - hang up! I have no paperwork but took out the finance in April 2005 - repaid 2008 and had PPI added without my knowledge. Where do I do from here? Experian shows loan with FCE Bank but not he account details.
  7. Hi there I am trying to reclaim PPI for my Mm from Ford credit on a finance agreement from 2003. We have the credit agreement. Have received a reply from Ford Credit stating that they have destroyed the documentation in relation to the finance agreement as its over 6 years ago so they are not in a position to consider this complaint. This is their final response. I am going to write back and ask that they reconsider and send a copy of the finance agreement but does anyone have some ideas on what I should write please. Thanks x
  8. Hey I hope there are some genuine mechanics who can help me with this. I had a new clutch/slave cylinder fitted to my car 16 months ago, 8 months/3000 miles later (I only drive occasionally the 300 miles to see my mother down the A1) the clutch disconnected from the housing or something like that and the whole job was redone, but they said there was no extension to the guarantee of the work done. The clutch was from Mr Clutch, again it has gone back to the nearest branch, after the one in Gateshead (where the work was completed) was closed down. I have driven only a further 3500 miles in 8 months and this time they are saying that the concentric slave cylinder, replaced under the original warranty 8 months ago has failed, however this part only has a 12 month warranty from the original date of purchase of the original unit. The engineer in the garage let slip that I should be expecting to have covered 50000 miles of mostly responsible driving in 8 months to cause this, however their head office argue that this is a perishable product and is not expected to last beyond 12 months and therefore is exempt from the fit for purpose for 6 years rule in the sale of goods act. Now I've been footed a further bill of £300 for the whole lot again being a student I can't afford to have this done twice in less than 2 years. Should a concentric slave cylinder last longer than ~3500 mile/8 months of only motorway driving, might I add I'm 26 I study a medical related course, boy racers irritate me, I don't ride my clutch and I've never had so much as a speeding ticket in my life. If so would you say that a fit for purpose slave cylinder is one that would last for up to 6 years of reasonable style driving, averaging no more than 6000 miles a year? I need to know before I take the removed components to a solicitor. Thank You
  9. Hello. our 53 plate diesel estate has developed problems. The dashboard light for the glow plus comes on and off as you are driving and limits the acceleration. The engine has (so far) never cut out whilst driving and always starts. Any idea anyone? Many thanks.
