We'd like to spend about£300 on some law books. We will probably need more later.

It would be helpful if people thought that they might like to chip in.

We have no accounts and no way of showing that the money is correctly spent.

It seems that the best way would be if anyone who is interested might like to purchase and send us an Amazon Gift certificate to [email protected]

These start at £5.00, I'm afraid and need a credit card - so that might cause a problem for some people on this site, unfortunately.

here's the link

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/gc-email-order1/ref=g_gc_email/202-2538737-6912639

If anyone has any criticism of this request, please let us know publicly on this thread.

We aren't very happy to be asking in this way but we don't have any other ideas.

Any contributions will be thanked privately and we will post when and if the certificates amount to £300. We will post Amazon receipts so that people can see what has been bought.

Thanks

Thanks very much. Nothing heard from Amazon yet. I wonder how it works?

there you go, youre 10 quid richer. can you tell us how much you end up getting? also you should set up a wish list so we can buy the books for you - its a bit more trustworthy.

I'll second that. Not because of the trustworthy part, but because s/one might be able to get hold of some 2nd hand (ebay, anyone? ).

I got specialist books on autism & out of prints on ebay that would have cost me a fortune through regular channels.

also it would be nice to see just what youre buying with what we're giving you.

As I said in an earlier post, we would put up the Amazon receipts for what has been brought.

However, I can tell you that so far the list includes

Civil procedure handbook 2005 - pub Oxford - about £35

Civil Procedure Loughlin & Gerils - pub Cavendish - about £35

Toulson on Confidence about £135 new edition. - this especially

other contract, banking law, trusts books not identified yet.

Book of forms and precedents - not identified yet

Also, possible subscription to Lexis and or Lawtel at some time in the future but this is not on the present list

Guest stephen

One problem with law book you have to buy the latest issue as new cases can change the law daily. So by using old books, you could be quoting a cases that has been over ruled.

you should look in second hand book shops, they have th ebig advantage of having other peoples notes in them too :)

In your dreams!

If you knew the time that this forum is taking you would understand that we don't have time to hunt around like that. I don't even have time at the moment to make claims against my own bank or one or two other companies which I have set my sights on.

I'm pleased that The Bank Action Group seems to be working but you had better believe that I am putting 100+ hours per week into it.

There is now a wish list at http://www.amazon.co.uk

wishlist is in the name of BankActionGroup

3 books in it at the moment

However as far as I can make out items in a wish lisy can only be bought in their entirety not by numerous individual contributions.

I don't think that it will work.

Gift certificates are the best way but if people rather not, or they don't trust it then just don't contribute. It's OK
