We have a large number of debts and need a basic (no overdraft) bank account that we can administer online that is not related to any of our creditors.

We were recomended a Nat West Step account, but their online application form is screwed up and won't allow a M&F couple to have a joint account.

Our Creditors are

Barclays

Halifax

Nationwide

Coop CC

Barclays CC

Nationwide CC

Halifax CC

Evans Store card

Mothercare Sc

Jessops Sc

Adams Sc

Benifical Finance

Suggestions most welcome.

Go to NatWest - Current accounts - Step account

fill out the application, tick joint acccount Apply as a Male, then when you get to the 2nd applicant see what options you are given...

IE7 & FF give Male, if the 1st applicant is Male and if the 2nd applicant is female, gives female.

I don't think you need to be M/M F/F and maybe NatWest accounts have been hacked (FF is not showing a Secure link. IE7 does showe it is a secure link).

Told NatWest Thurseday by email and they haven't replied.

I know you say you're after an internet account but I have a basic account with thinkbanking (maestro card) that is absolutely brilliant. It's a managed account that is split into A that my wages go into, the bank keep a note of what bills go out and that gets held back in A and my disposable income gets put into B. I pay one monthly fee of 12.50 which is expensive but the peace of mind I get is absolutely brilliant as I get no overdrawn of bounced charges on dd's etc.

I love CAG!

Hi,

Before you consider thinkbanking PLEASE read this thread:

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/word-banks/113357-new-type-bank-account.html

and consider whether it is really appropriate.

I always think it's best to consider all the options! ;)

I'm in enough mess to warrant the services of Pay Plan, so paying £12.50 a month, is the last thing I wan t to do - the basic account I am after is just a basic one with no overdraft facility.

I thought NatWest/Bank of Scotland were owned by the same people

Tha Bank of Scotland is now with the Halifax - Nat West are part of RBS. Just looked at Yorkshire Bank, they are Australian now and are partnered with Clydesadale Bank - I am sure one (at least ) of the store cards is owned by Clydesdale Bank.

Try sifting through this information from the FSA.

Hopefully one of the accounts listed here will fulfill your needs.
