Hey guys,

Hoping for some advice. Went through the letter sending process and finished sending Ulster Bank a letter threating court action for 2 separate accounts ...

"As I have not received a satisfactory response, I am writing to inform you I intend to claim the full amount claimed together with interest up to the date of judgment and court fees in the proceedings through the county court"

This was after receiving replies stating their charges were fair and a letter with the accompanying leaflets for the FO everyone seems to receive.

Now heres whats changed, for one account they have sent a reply stating that because it takes a long time to process they need 6-7weeks to issue a reply, but if possible they will do this before this time.

On the 2nd account we have had no reply.

How should I proceed now?

Hi Ronan,

I am claiming off the Northern Bank myself but having read extensively around all local threads, it seems that Ulster Bank only take you seriously when you lodge court claim. It is your timetable, not theirs, so if you have sent the prelim and LBA letters and time is up, go ahead and file in court. They will pay up then!!

glav:)

Cheers glav,

I think I'll send another letter back giving them 2 more weeks, as that will be 6 weeks from the first letter I sent.

If theres no reply then I was going to go to the Financial Ombudsman.

I've read a few threads and considered court but think I'll try the FO first and if unsuccessful I'll try going to court.

Any further advice appreciated.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Hello Ronan

See the thread titled Ulster bank. I posted there on the 9th of July,to say I got all my money back from Ulster bank:D . I got my offer letter from them exactly 7 weeks and 5 days from the day they received my first letter. If I had not heard from them by 8 weeks,I was going through the Financial Ombudsman. If you have not heard from them on the 2nd account within the 14 days of them receiving your letter before action, then you could send that to the Financial Ombudsman now.

To our surprise we received a letter today from Ulster Bank regarding the 2nd account and they are refunding the full amount! Very happy with their progress and response.

I'll wait the extra 8 weeks now regarding the 1st account and the letter they supplied.

I'll let you know how we get on.

Ulster Bank settled with me for the full amount this morning. :D Two weeks and one day after I threatened court action.

They say in the letter that all the charges are fair, blah, blah and do not accept responsibility, but as a goodwill gesture they offered me the full amount.

Keep at it guys. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello,

Posted on another thread trying to get the relevant address for Ulster Bank, i.e. the address to send off the initial letter asking for details of charges levied over last 6 years. Got no reply on the other thread.

Anyone here know if there's a specific Ulster Bank address, or should it go to the relevant branch, or to RBS as the parent company?

Any help appreciated.
