Am I right in thinking that I am liable for income tax on whatever money I get?

Presumably not national insurance, though?

I still need to get them to pay me.

No replies from Spratt Endicott or Royal Mail so letter handed in at the Court on July 31st to restore my counterclaim. I had to do this by end of July or else it would stand dismissed. Bet they were banking on that (-;

Spratt Endicott and Royal Mail still ignoring me.

Nothing from the court either. Should I chase?

Nothing from the court either. Should I chase?

Yesterday I report no progress. Today I receive two things in the post:-

1. Notification of a court date to hear the counterclaim (23rd October).

2. CHEQUE from Royal Mail!!!

Now all I need is confirmation that they've adjusted my (frozen) pension to remove the effect of the underpayment - otherwise they owe me another 6%. I will chase this before I notify the court of the Royal Mail's payment.

Email from Solicitor 19 September, saying:-

We understand that the Counterclaim has now been settled upon

payment of £** by our client and we should be grateful if you

would confirm that you have informed the Court of the settlement

and that you have made arrangements to withdraw the Counterclaim

and vacate the hearing.

My reply on 22nd September said:-

I acknowledge receipt of your client's cheque for £** and

anticipate imminent delivery of the written confirmation from

Royal Mail’s Pension Trustees that they have adjusted my pension

to remove the effect of the underpayment.

As soon as I receive such confirmation (or, alternatively, a

further cheque for £**), my Counterclaim will be fully

settled. At that point, I shall make arrangements to withdraw the

Counterclaim and vacate the hearing.

I should appreciate if you would press your client to conclude

this matter without delay.

Received the cheque yesterday (12th October) for the outstanding 6%. Obviously they'd hoped I would just assume that the pension would be adjusted because they paid me the lower amount.

Better cancel the Court hearing.

Thank you to all for the help and support.
