On holiday recently another motorist told me he was the main driver of his and his wife's car and he was the policyholder (in his name) for both vehicles.

Would I have to earn ncd from zero on my wife's car to do the same?

no.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

You earn ncd in your name and can then use on one vehicle.

So if for some reason you decided to also be main driver/policyholder for wife's car, you would start off from zero again. If it was same company that wife is currently insured with and you are named driver, they may allow wife's current ncd to be transferred to you, if your wife consented to this.

We could do with some help from you.
