Hi, I'm not sure if this is something you deal with.

I realise that it is permissible for someone to photograph/video someone else on public land such as pavements etc., but does the same apply to private land such as a supermarket carpark?

its not private land in that respect

there are no restrictions in your instance. you cannot trespass the eye.

just because the land might be privately owned by a large property owner,  it is not private land in the same sense as your home. its public accessible land, they can film what they like. likewise should you be on public land you can film into private land, even with a drone.

the only really time filming becomes an issue where private land is involved is if you say - purposefully film your neighbour on their private home/land from your private home/land.
