Stop there is no court at any point in your future in this case.   You need to go to the Tax Credits Web Site and request an SAR. This will deliver you every minute detail that they have rel

Hello and welcome to CAG.

If you read around similar threads here, Compliance isn't as scary as it sounds. You'll need to tell them what's happened and if you owe any money, they'll make affordable deductions from future payments.

Almost everyone here has said that the people on the phone aren't nasty, so just be honest. :)

I don't remember anyone from here who has faced prison and we've dealt with a lot of enquiries over the years. Just explain that you forgot, etc and tell the the truth. It'll be OK.

And come back and let us know how you got on, please. :)

just be honest, all you'll need to do is p'haps pay a small amount back each month or deductions from on going awards.

it also doesn't hurt to pop up on the HMRC website and fill-in/send them their SAR.

to ensure they have the data to prove your indebtedness.

coming off or closing your claim doesnt remove your 'alleged over payment' since june

its your responsibility to prove/disprove so they need information

did you go read all those threads i linked you above?

far better than us explaining everything to you.

read what happened to others and it will both inform you and stop your worry.

If you are still receiving Tax Credits, then they will take off a small percentage to pay the overpayment back each month.

We could do with some help from you.

Thanks Got a phone call in February  from compliance then letter saying I owed 10k but heard nothing since, they stopped my tax credits right away as I’m no longer entitled but not heard anything since. You think I should call them to arrange payments??

They usually ask you in letters to call HMRC to discuss ways to repay.  Have they not asked you to do this?

Suggest that you call them to find out what you need to do.
