Hi Guys,

I have had plenty of experience dealing with Jacobs bailiffs but never for a PCN, it's been council tax in the past.

My husband received a PCN through the post but had never had a ticket attached to his windscreen in the first place! The council weren't interested and passed us from pillar to post and the debt was passed to Jacobs. They sent One letter through the post asking for 112 which was the PCN cost only, we were away with work when it arrived and when we got home the Bailiff knocked on the door for his 1st visit and has requested £151.44 in fees plus the £112 PCN! We paid the PCN direct to the council and advised the Bailiff of this via text message. Today we have received a letter stating that there is a balance outstanding of £151.44. As far as I was aware they can only charge a 1st visit fee and nothing else as no levy was made and nothing was signed by my husband.

Can somebody give me some info regarding the correct lawful fees they can charge so I can email them to tell them how much we'll be paying and nothing more!

Thanks

Lisa

How long have you had the car, as it could be a previous owners ticket, or one done by camera, have you moved recently? Jacobs are clamp and sell specialists I hate them with a passion reserved for the most obnoxious and egregious people after they tried to seize a truck I was sat in on the phone parked up for a third party debt., so watch out with the car.they will certainly clamp it at the slightest excuse.

We could do with some help from you.

Bailiff fees for PCNs differ from those for Council Tax.

I am guessing the original PCN was for £65 and if so, a Total of £151. 44 wouldn't be far off ie you would owe the bailiffs about £39.

It would be easier if you were to write to the Council [or TFL] complaining about the level of charges and asking them to provide a complete breakdown of how they arrived at their figure, the date each

cost was applied and the certificate number and name of the bailiff who attended your property. Carry on to say that you will have no hesitation in raising your next letter to a stage 2 formal complaint

should the answers not be forthcoming and that as you will pay the correct bailiff fees you are therefore asking that the bailiffs are held off until the correct fees have been ascertained and you have

no faith that the bailiffs themselves will provide you with the those figures.

Lisa, fees regarding PCNs attached.

HOWEVER -

you do realise that while some PCNs are attached to the car, others are only served by post?

You said " The council weren't interested and passed us from pillar to post" - exactly how?

A PCN served by post, I believe also acts as an NTO, but after that comes the Charge Certificate BEFORE bailiffs get involved.

What documentation did you receive, when and what did you do with it/text of replies?
