hi

i was pulled for using phone whilst driving,

 

i went to pay fine at court and was told i cannot pay fine

as police officer had not correctly filled in ticket,

 

she had not put 3 points next to fine amount,

 

court clerk took photo copy of my ticket and said he will contact police

and if i dont hear from them within 4 weeks

i was to contact police.

 

where do i stand

 

is ticket invalid and

 

can i escape prosecution.

 

incident happened in scotland.

 

thanks for any info

Youve already had the info you need. Wait the 4 weeks and contact the police again.

UPDATE

i received letter from police scotland telling me i got off with offence.yipeee

 

So I take it your not driving whilst on the phone now.

The fact you broke the law twice shows that you seem to think the rules dont apply.

 

HOWEVER, if im wrong, please make sure you dont do it anymore. Next time, you could kill someone. If the call is that important, pull over and take the call. Dont drive and answer it.

Yep spot on, I drive for a living and the number of drivers I see every day on their mobiles whilst doing speeds in excess of 60-70 mph is horrific, I'd ban them the first time they were caught, totally unacceptable there's no excuse.

Fully agree. I cant fathom why they are given a small fine and a slap on the wrist in the form of points. You are driving a 2+ ton vehicle at high speed and are not in full control of it.
