Through no fault of my own, and no knowledge of how it happened, One Tel placed a default on me.

I only found this out when I decided to get my finacnes in order several months ago and wrote off for my credit references via the three main agencies.

I was highly surprised to see on my Experian record, that Onetel had defualted me for £34.

This was for an account I had held two years earlier. It was a stroke of luck that I still had all my details regarding this matter, as they had sent the matter to a debt collection agency, even though I didn't owe them anything. I had a final bill from Onetel, which registered "nil".

Anyway, I wrote to Onetel asking them to remove the default. Unfortunately after three letters I still didn't have a response, but I phoned them up and spoke to someone who said it had been removed.

I've just got fresh records back from Experian and there is no sign of it on there.

So whilst it was a drag having to write several times, and more of a pain that they didn't (and still haven't) written back to me, it's all clear.

So peresevere, and stick to what you know is right!

Nice one - I had a onetel default removed after requesting they send me docs - no reply just gone from my experian file!

Seems like common practise for them - oh well, I'm in the clear now! Congrats to you too!

If in response to a subject access request the company supplies a PHOTOCOPY of the original agreement with signatures, is this valid?

Yes - they don't send originals - everything is copies or off their systems - eg notes etc. What are you referring to and what were you expecting?
