Stephen Leslie Dean, who is a currently certificated bailiff http://certificatedbailiffs.justice.gov.uk/CertificatedBailiffs/searchPublic.do?search=stephen+leslie

and also a listed current director of a kent based bailiff company was convicted and given the suspended sentence for allowing his dog to be " dangerously out of control in a public place"

Stephen Dean caused a Canterbury student to fear for her life when she and her mother were mauled by an alsatian let loose by the former police dog handler.

The full story as reported in November 2012

Kind of a non issue really unless the dog was part of his bailiff procedures.

Not necessarily, The process is based upon convincing the Judge you're a fit and proper person. Although he has received a conviction the Judge may still allow him to work.

Could always tip off the issuing court, so at the very least his bailiff registration wont get renewed.

Good to see you back. Thank you for the information. When the bailiffs certificate is due for renewal he is of course under an obligation to advise the court in his application form of any convictions. Some Judges are more lenient than others but I would "assume" that a "little birdie" may well write to the court in any event to make sure that they are aware of the conviction.

Actually, I have just read the story and I have to say that I am not pleased to hear that Mr Dean maintained his innocence even after the sentence and even tried to "claim" that it was not HIS dog that had carried out the attack !!

He even tried to claim that the "attack" had taken place in HIS GARDEN and NOT in a public place.

It would have been far better if he had been honest in the first place.
