hello guys,

i've got a bit of a dilemma here. I for the first time shopped at DFS and bought a 2 seater + 3 seater OMBRE sofa set (approx £1400). I ordered these in early january and they seemed fine in the shop - firm and reasonably tough leather. Last week, when i received these sofas, I noticed that the top of the backsupport cushions were somewhat creasing/sagging, as though they were not filled in properly. I asked the delivery guys and they said that they were not 100% sure, but it must be because they are new and may need to settle. These sofas are kept in my lounge which i only use now and again. I've now been using these sofas for approx week, but they are already badly sagging and the cushions tend to be left with pressure dents from the persons weight and hardly rise. Surely this is not normal after only 1 week use?

I phoned my local DFS to complain and the lady got very shall we say "rude" and trying to shift the blame on me. Eventually she said she will send someone out on monday to check them out.

My worry is that they will try to fob me off with their jargon and trap me, making it sound like it's my problem, so what do you advice i do?

How shall i prove my case?

Sorry i don't have enough posts to give you a proper link, but here is the link to the sofas i bought (REMOVE SPACES): htt p : // ww w. dfs . co . uk /sofas / leather-sofas/ombre

I had a similar problem with DFS a few years ago and was continually fobbed off by my local store and the "area manager". In the end I found a website where one could post pics, took some pics of the suite and headed it "look at the fabulous quality of DFS suites". As I wasn't slagging them off by saying it was a load of rubbish there wasn't much they could do. I then sent the link to the website to their head office, Darley Dale I think, and very very quickly another "area manager" contacted me and the problem was resolved virtually overnight.

thats a great idea, but what website was it and why could you not slag them off? You should have every right to complain and review their service online as long as your not aiming it at an individual.

It was a website run by Yahoo, I forget the name but Yahoo closed it down. I'm sure there are others very similar. Try flikr or create a yahoo profile.

  • 2 weeks later...

I went back to the local store where I made the order, the manager kept making lots of excuses and said their sofas are all quality checked before sent out etc.... he blamed it was the way we used it. Like johnjordan, I contacted the head office, it wasnt sorted out as quickly as him, but evetually they swapped it for me.
