Hi I'm new here so I'm just gonna start from the beginning, I took out a payday loan at the end of march, from the money shop for £100, problem is I got made redundant from work in the middle of april. The loan due date was friday 27th april, only 2days ago! They have since rang my mobile 9times today(bearing in mind its a sunday, are they allowed 2 call on sundays and if so are they allowed 2 call this many times?) and 5times yesterday, but not only that, there calling my house phone numerous times aswell, I also gave them my work number so I presume there proberly calling that even though I no longer work there!

My main question is how do I deal with this situation??? Really wasn't expecting to be unemployed:( I have absolutely no money coming in at the moment to even offer them a payment plan, I'm relying on family just to support me till I find work again. Any help would be great!!

Hello, am going through some same situations but all my payday loans are on repayment plans (9 PDL's), so will try and advise you. For the phone calls, I would answer it and tell them your situation even though they will probably not listen and demand some sort of payment. At the end of the call, tell them you no longer want them to contact you via phone as they are phoning you to many times and this is regarded as harassment under the communications act, and you will inform the police if they continue. You might wanna consider going through with the police report if they continue, also let your phone provider know that this number is harassing you cause if you are on contract they can stop there calls coming through. (I am sure you can ban numbers on certain phones now anyway without phoning the provider, I can on mine).

As for your money issues, maybe consider going on JSA until you get a job. A PDL does not come first with regards to bills, having money for weekly necessities comes first. Open a new bank account if you can and if you want to make any payments to them make it through standing order only so that they do not have your new account details. Other than that, email them and offer £1 token payments until you can sort a repayment plan or something out. But remember, do not let them continue this harassment by phone. I do not have a loan with moneyshop yet they seem to be ringing my workplace all the time (when I am not there) which I find strange, since i dunno how they have my information and when I am there one day, I will rip them a new one.

This lot can be a bit of nightmare to deal with.

Once you get back on your feet workwise fight ya corner and don't pay the extra interest/charges they will add to the loan - £25 + 3 months worth of interest

I had to put a complaint in writing to them about this. My first response basically stated i would be paying the extra/charges so i complained further to the company secretary and they finally agreed to wipe the charges/interest.

Took a few months but got there in the end.

Good luck :)

Tbh you are now unemployed. Offer them £1 a month. No negotiations. Unless you have savings you can fall back on.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

If my advice helps you, click the star icon at the bottom of my post and feel free to say thanks
