I have the following credit cards with Barclaycard with various amounts of debts on each, as i also have other CC's in the same situation, will open new thread in the respective categories.BarclaycardBarclaycard MastercardI've been out of work for approx a year and have just manging the minimum payments with some missed , late payments and in the last couple of months I have defaulted on a few of them, I have just got a job and can once again start paying the minimum, i'm not using any of the cards anymore, what do you think is the best course of action in getting some money back from them, freezing or lowering interest, etc.. your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bobster,

Follow the advice that I gave on your Barclays thread here - http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?327168-Barclays-Accounts&p=3619369&viewfull=1#post3619369

If you have 2 BC a/c's, use this thread for one and open a new one when you have something to report on the other. Give the 2nd BC thread a different title to identify them separately.

If you don't have all your statements, get them with a SAR - http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/content.php?552-Data-Protection

If/when you have the statements, take all the default charges data from them and enter on to this spreadsheet - http://www.shweb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/interestcalcs.xls

I suggest you use a nominal interest rate of 24.9% on the spready.

When you have the spready ready, sent it to BC with this template letter - http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/content.php?605-Credit-Store-Card-Letter-Template

I'll answer this on the Barclays Bank a/c thread so the various issues don't get confused.

Hi Bobster,

When looking at your Barclays bank a/c thread, I thought I'd check on this one too.

You should send off an SAR to BC if you don't have all your statements for any period when you're likely to have incurred default charges.

I wouldn't necessarily use the Financial Difficulties letter on this case as you can get all charges refunded anyway.

However, if you think you are still experiencing FD, you could use the new letter here, adapted to reflect your own circumstances - http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/content.php?557-Letter-for-an-application-for-consideration-for-hardship

If you DO have all the relevant statements, proceed with reclaiming the default charges. In this connection, can you confirm over what period you have had default charges put on the a/c.
