Hi Everyone,

Im looking for some information , I have had to have a lot of dental work done recently.

I went to the dentist as I had a lot of decay in my mouth and wanted to get it sorted out, I was advised that I would get it on the NHS by my dentist, The dentist made a plan for me and started the work and completed the top but the bottom is still to be done, now the dentist I had has left the practise and now the dental surgery are trying to bill me stating that the work that was done was not covered by the NHS??

I have had bridges and crowns fitted. I have advised them that I do not have the money to pay the bill and that I was advised that all the work was to be covered by the NHS , they have since sent me a bill for over £2000 and have now sent my account to a debt collection agency.

the work was carried out over a year ago and they are only just seeking the bill now.

Am I right in thinking that if you have started agreed dental work under the NHS then that work should be completed as planned under the NHS? Difficult to prove if you have no signed paperwork but your dental records should show ongoing planned dental work. Write to the dental practice to confirm this first then if still not satisfied then send them a letter of complaint that you are part way through planned treatment. Some procedures are still not covered under the NHS dental scheme so you would have to pay for but that should have been explaned before the dental work started.

Keep up the fight against Bank Charges.
