swinton car insurance

i cancelled my car insurance with swinton when i found a cheaper cover and swinton have now debited £93.17 out my account! i dont like people debiting what they want out my account and this switch transaction was unauthorised.

 

are they allowed to do this? to me it sounds like theft!

Get on to you bank tell them that an unauthorised amount has been taken from your account. Tell them that you never gave Swinton the three digit security code on the back of your switchcard. It could be a part charge if it hasn't been in the cancellation period.

ive already done that. they told me to write swinton a letter demanding the money is refunded and i sent it last week.

 

i think the transaction was fraudulent.

I have had a similar problem. My car insurance cancelled the policy 2 days before the end of the policy and charged me a cancellation fee!

 

However, I think when you take out the policy you agree that you will be debited x amount if you cancel. I hope im wrong though, check your credit agreement

and is it reasonable terms? i could write in my terms and conditions that could punch them in the face, but it doesnt make it legal!
