I smell a troll. Joined recently to sing the praises of a retailer??/ Why would they be looking on the Internet if they were happy with their purchase?

Surfer01 did you read my post? I found this site the night before I was due to pay for my sofa and very nearly backed out. I paid using my credit card which I believe is a no brainer when paying large amounts of money to any company. I had a good experience with them and felt it unfair that the top Google result for Yes Sofa Specialist Droitwich is this one. I didn't have to write my experience on here as your right, I am a happy customer. But I feel local business is important if this country's economy is to pick up. I'm sure you'd welcome every customer of theirs write a review on here giving a much broader picture of the company than just people who have had problems?

As to who I am, who are you? As far as anyone on here is concerned you could be the Store manager for DFS Droitwich!

My advice to anyone who, like me came onto this site through Google would be use your credit card wherever you buy from!

  • 1 month later...

I have been wanting to buy a new sofa for a while, saving up for one of high quality and one that has the 'wow factor'. I've been to both DFS and Next, but haven't found any that I'm that mad about. I also went to Yes Sofa Specialists, opposite DFS in Droitwich, and I actually found the perfect sofa - well it would be once I customised it to the right fabric and size! Having not heard anything of the company before, however, I was a bit dubious about jumping in and buying it straight away so I said I would think about it. I googled the name and one of the first sites was this one, and with all the bad reviews wow was I put off!

I've since revisited DFS and still didn't find anything I really liked. Call me foolish, but I've now been back into Yes Sofa Specialists and put a deposit down on my sofa. With nothing else out there of similar or better quality and design, I'm willing to take the risk for that dream sofa.*

With so many poor reviews on here, I thought it was only fair I describe what a pleasant experience I had, so that not everyone will be put off buying from these guys. I found the staff extremely well informed, who listened to what I wanted and made helpful suggestions as to what would suit me. They were very pleasant and at no time did I feel pressurised into buying - they even suggested I had another look in DFS for peace of mind! This is the opposite of how I felt in DFS - I was hounded as soon as I went in, reminded that I need 4 years free interest and warranties for this and that.*

Don't forget that this is a small company and every company has complaints - big stores have complaints in the thousands! If you're thinking of buying from Yes Sofa Specialists, give them a chance rather than being put off by complaints on this site - you may well be surprised by what you find!

And finally, a little disclaimer - if I have problems with delivery or the sofa itself (I paid by credit card so I should be covered if anything goes wrong) I will take back all I have said and update my review, but right now I'm really looking forward to my amazing sofa!

Everyone else? There are other (although very few) positive comments in here, not just mine. As I said in my post, I did my research about the company before buying and that's why I found this site.

Out of interest, what problems did you have with the company? I can't find any other comments on this thread from you other than accusing people of being trolls. And by the way, have no idea where the troll term came from but I can't say I like it!

Hi Jane..I'M WITH YOU ALL THE WAY!!!

There is absolutely nothing to worry about....:whoo:

I did the same back at the end of July....shopped around most of the funiture stores in the West Midlands and even some in Wales and couldn't find anything that matched the quality, value for money and service which The Sofa Specialist in Droitwich had to offer!!

In fact my top 3 suites were all from there!!

Just like you, I came on-line to find their website and stummbled across this one.

After reading all the posts it put me on edge a little so I went into the store and confronted the owner with my concerns, he was very up front and suggested that if I wanted to place an order (there was no pressure at all), and I felt unsure, then I could pay by credit card which would cover my purchase if anything went wrong, he couldn't have been fairer than that so I went ahead and ordered.

He advised me it would take approx 16 weeks to come in to stock as it was being made to order and had to come from China - that was fine by me.

It came exactly when it should have at the end of November so I had it to enjoy and show off over Christmas :-)......

It's what I ordered, the quality and style is fantastic......I got exactly what I wanted.......and with extras!!!:-)......

I would definately recommend them to anyone who appreciates the finer things in life!!!

Happy Happy Happy

(PS My last suite came from DFS 10 years ago - it was delivered with no feet and a load of writting in black pen on the one side of one of the sofas, after 2 months one of the arms collapsed.....just saying.....)

So glad to see some more positive comments about the company. Thanks for contributing Rosey - here's hoping less people will be put off now. In these tough economic times we should be supporting small companies!

check your house insurance, see if you have legal cover, if so give them a call. they were prepared to take yes sofa to court to get my chair that i waited over 6mths for, i also experience bullying off the manager, and believe me i heard every excuse under the sun as to why my chair was not made until 6mths after i paid for it. they even had the cheek to ask me for extra money 6mths after i paid for the chair, which was in breach of contract and so i reported them to worcester trading standards. the man there was very helpful and he says they have had plenty of complaints about them and they are being investigated under the enterprise act.

my advice..... stay away !!

We've recently put a deposit down for a sofa with Yes Sofa Camphill, Birmingham. We've been told it will take 8 weeks.

We didn't read all these threads on the internet until after we ordered so now understandably we are concerned. Fingers-crossed everything will be ok, but we've decided that we'll pay the remainder or the balance by credit card for a bit more security.

Will keep this thread updated on our progress.

Hi...

I hope you have the same experience as we did, everything went as it should have.

We ordered from Droitwich where they were very helpfull and polite, it arrived when they said it would, I spoke to the guys in Birmingham to make delivery arrangements and paid.

We are now enjoying our quality furniture and are very happy......

I really can't understand the previous posts, altough things do happen as you can see in my previous post with DFS.....

I'm sure all we be fine :-).....

i really thought that yes/els or what ever there name is now had smarted up there act as reading a few well reviewed posted on here, but they still look to be up to there old tricks! i like to support local businesses too but when they rip you off and treat not just me but other customers like they have it shames me to think that i spent my hard earned money in there shop, if you are planning to buy from them just do 2 things. 1) be sure to pay either the deposit or blance on your credit card so you have the usefull tool of the SECTION 75 which means your credit card will fight for you if it goes wrong and 2) pray like mad that your one of the lucky ones on here that has no problems with the sofa or the staff

  • 4 weeks later...

After looking around various furniture retailers we ordered a leather suite from Sofa Specialist in January 2012 and were quoted 14 weeks delivery. After placing the order, we came across this thread (and others) after searching Google for Sofa Specialist and YesSofa (the url on their paperwork). The 14 weeks is up this weekend 21/04/2012, so a couple of weeks ago we popped in to the store to see Ashley (who had dealt with our order and I have to say was extremely helpful arranging some special mods to the sofa etc) and enquire as to the progress of our order. He said we should be getting a call in the next few days to arrange delivery. We heard nothing, so yesterday (19/04/12) I rang the Birmingham after sales number and spoke to Ellie, gave her the details and asked if she could give me an estimate of delivery. She promised to call me back but did'nt. Rang her again today and she said the order was not in stock yet but would contact the supplier and get back to me. I await the response... Obviously, given the, on balance, negative posts regarding the various incarnations of this store, we are a little, well, nervous. Equally I am a pragmatist and realise that things don't always go to plan, so at this stage they have the benefit of the doubt. The intention is to update this thread as we go so that other subscribers can form an objective view from someone who, at this stage, is neither friend or foe of the Sofa Specialist
