I would like some advice regarding a policy taken out with Halifax in 2001.

I changed mortgage in 2007 and did not cancel the payment protection i had with Halifax. I no longer needed the policy as i married and was no longer working and my husband had seperate arrangements. I have been paying for the policy for the last 3 years without needing it and feel that i should have at least received some notification when i paid off the mortgage.

I have contacted Halifax to cancel the policy and asked about whether i would be entitled to claim back for the 3 years i was paying the policy since i had transferred the mortgage, i was told that as this was not just mortgage cover but also life cover and that the cover would still have been valid and i would not be entitled to claim back.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

I realise i should keep a much closer eye on my account and that i should have cancelled this when i no longer needed it but i assumed that when i paid off the mortgage this would also be cancelled or that i would be notified that i was still paying for it.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks.
