I actually looked to see the rates for overweight to see just how much overweight she was rather than looking at 'we reserve the right ........'.

Surely this person has come here to ask a reasonable question and it is not unreasonable for them to expect a reasonable answer if that is possible rather than some halfwit trying to confuse matters trying to show their alledged knowledge.

As said earlier 'lighten up'

In the event that the Ts and Cs of an airline conflict with the Regulation, the Regulation prevails........

The OP's girlfriend has been unreasonably denied boarding, 'ergo' the Regulation applies!

So, according that all I have to do is book a long distance flight with Ryanair, turn up to the departure gate with oversize hand luggage, fluff up a row about it with the airport staff and as soon as the opportunity to board the aircraft expires I am then entitled to be fully reimbursed and compensated.

Sounds like a nice little earner.

Since when was an agreed term not per se a reason, therefore a reasonable ground as a matter of fact?

If this is an argument over whether or not the luggage did in fact exceed the prescribed dimension that is what it is, a matter of fact, not a conflict between the terms and the Regulations.

8-)

Indeed, instead of calling yourself a halfwit, why not begin by reading the original posting, the one at the start of the thread, the one which reported nothing at all about anything being overweight, nor the payment an extra charge for overweight baggage?

The problem was that "her luggage didn't fit in the measurement case that they use".

The reasonable assumption to work with is therefore that the airport had offered to accept an oversize item of cabin baggage as an extra item of hold luggage. It would not have been an oversize item of hold luggage because the size limit for hold luggage is absolute:

Ryanair does not accept for carriage any individual item exceeding 32 kilos or with combined dimensions of more than 81cms (height), 119cms (width) and 119cms (depth).
