I know I need to carry on getting sick notes, I just wondered if the statement about the DWP writing to your actualy GP and telling them to stop giving sick notes is true.

I read that some GP's misread this and then refuse any more sicknotes as they feel they can't after receiving such a letter

 

I don't know about writing to individual Drs, my GPs certainly ignored them if they did. but they do publish a lot of propaganda trying to dissuade doctors giving out certificates in the first place. A few pdfs here if you have the time to browse.

I am going to write to my MP today. I'll let you know how I get on! I am going to ask the question, why are people off sick from permanent jobs being turned down for this benefit and on top of that being persuaded to sign on as available for work when they clearly are not.

 

To my mind if you are not prepared to commit fraud by signing on then you stand to have no benefit at all at a time when you most need it!

 

A point in particular is this - if you suffer from these depressive type illnesses, its likely that your GP, or CBT advisor, has recommended you get out and about - trouble is, with us not being able to access this extra money a week where we are all waiting for appeals, who can afford even to hop on a blessed bus to get away for a day for example?

 

My MP's a female - lets see if she has an understanding side to her!
