Hi everyone,

I'm a student at keele uni and recently got a £50 (or £25 if I pay within 28 days) fine because according to the their parking notice I 'Parked without clearly displaying the required permit or pay and display ticket'. This was true in the sense that the bottom 1/4 was not showing due to it being covered by the tax disc holder, however I still can't see why this is a good enough reason to pay the fine.

The firm itself the is a private firm called carparkingpartnership and the uni said it's got nothing to do with them.

What should I do guys, any help would be greatly appreciated,

John

Private companies have no means of making you pay if you don't want to. They would have to take you to court to make you pay, and what offence have you committed? The only theoretical offence is breach of contract (the terms of the parking arrangements) for which they can sue for damages. Their damages are zilch, so they could sue you for nothing - even then, they would struggle to win the case as they can't prove it was you who was driving, and therefore you who breached the alleged contract.

So how many times is it now that "Keele Uni" has come on these forums....

You'd think they would have given up on that site by now but maybe all the Keele students haven't found CAG yet.

jonstar, make sure you spread the word about CAG at uni. :)

It's not a fine!

It's an unenforcible [problem] invoice.

Ignore it and ignore all correspondence regarding it.

there is NO conflicting info on here.

IGNORE THEM.

the ONLY tickets that you need to pay are ones that say:

Penalty Charge Notice.

they are the ones issued by councils traffic wardens/police.

the rest are INVOICES.

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Wrong, you DON'T have to pay. If you choose to give money to a bunch of [problematic] that is your choice.
