I am presuming each computer has an installation driver. If so, then that is where my problem lies. I have just tried to install a Codec package and although it finished saying it was installed, I got a message half way through saying "could not load the initilisation file".

This would also explain the problems I am having with my laptop configuring updates every time I reboot. Things are just not installing properly/fully, probably because I have deleted some important piece of Hardware/Software somewhere along the line.

I will do as you say now dx and get back to you.:)

Clicked on your link dx and it didn't direct me anywhere, it just instantly downloaded a Zip file which I duly opened. It then uninstalled something to do with TPII and reinstalled new software. However when it was searching Windows Update for PCI-Cardbus bridge it said I had to put in the disc that came with software. Also needs a disc for the Mass storage controller.

Hence, they both failed.:(

Done that twice dx, failed both times. When installing it says

Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Cardbus Controller Searching preconfigured drive folders.

Inevitably it can't find anything and asks me if it wants me to locate and install the driver software (recommended) so I click yes.

Then after a while it says "please install the CD that came with the PCIxx12 Cardbus Controller. So I click 'I aint got one'. Then it says "well tough, what do you want us to do about it (or words to that effect). Installation failed.

I installed and ran Driver Genius Professional earlier on, and it found 18 driver faults/out of date. I ran the repair and it downloaded the necessary drivers. It only successfully installed about 10 of them, the others failed (including that bloody PCI thingy again). Even so, DGP still told me that they are all now installed. I ran another scan to make sure and it says all my drivers are up to date, but the problems are exactly the same.

I can't help thinking it's something to do with this PCI thingy or APCI. Every time I plug in a Pen Drive, Bluetooth dongle or any accessory it cannot install driver software so fails. There must be one critical part of everyone's system that controls all this, and mine clearly has a major problem:mad:

I'll say it again dx, I really appreciated your hard work in all this.

right two things:

one reviewing the thread:

i think your issues now stem from you using an XP disc on a Vista laptop?

2nd

have you looked in disk manager to see if you have a hidden recovery partition?

most of those a100 toshes have one

you just boot on it and run the restore prog

inc you should have an ST number on that beasty somewhere

thats the key to doing the drivers yourself.

another issue that comes to mind is toshes must have the drivers loaded in the correct order.

i bet thats well out the window now.
