I had a good day at the car booter on sunday!

bought:

3x Vango Hurricane Alpha tents

1x Phoenix Phreak

1x Wild Country something or other (not put up yet!)

2x karrimor outward bound rucsacs + two sets of waterproofs.

Grand total:

£10 !!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::D

Any way, question:

Phoenix Phreak:

I didn't get any instructions, plus not sure if all the bits are there!

I have two poles which make the a-frame, they slot into a metal spring connector, and I think this is pretty much sorted, but:

I have two more poles with pins on the end.

These poles appear to join together and slide adjust to length.

However, they do not appear to be long enough to stretch between the two leather reinforced points with holes for the pins (one above porch, one at back of tent.

Even if they were long enough, there is no clear route.

There are not many pictures of an erected phreak (there's a phrase you don't see on CAG every day!), so I'm not sure if the two poles are supposed to be joined, or if there are parts missing.

I struggled for an hour, until it got too dark, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these tents, and can point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Carpe Jugulum

Apparently, they were originally manufactured by Phoenix Mountaineering, who were taken over by Karrimor.

Karrimore have a UK website....

Karrimor UK Index

Whether they will be able to help you, I don't know, but it's worth a try.

I have registered and asked the question - thanks!

I'm always a bit leery of joining new forums and just asking questions - I spent too long on usenet (where it's usually recommended you spend a couple of weeks browsing before posting)

Yes - it's the brown one at the back!

There is only one decent picture of the tent I can find, and that's AFTER it was hit with a hurricane (or at least a severe gale):

or this one with someone in front of it:

not a lot of help unfortunately!

Is camping not regarded as loitering within tent?

If in doubt, contact a qualified insured legal professional (or my wife... she knows EVERYTHING)

Or send a cheque or postal order payable to Reclaim the Right Ltd.

to

Click here if you fancy an email address that shows you mean business! (only £6 and that will really help CAG)

If you can't donate, please use the Internet Search boxes on the CAG pages - these will generate a small but regular income for the site
