Hello,

My Orange contract ends in August and i am due an upgrade in 2 weeks.

I would like to know what the likelihood is off getting a reduced monthly bill and any other extras thrown in if i state i want to leave Orange? Is it best to call or go into an Orange store?

Also as a new contract would fail due to my credit, can they continue on my current tarrif without applying for new credit?

Also would they do me a great deal on a dongle?

Any thoughts would be great. Thanks :D

I can think of a few perks of renewing a contract;

A further 'lock-in' of 18 or 24 months in which, if you attempt to downgrade or reduce to changes in personal circumstances, they will without a moments hesitation fry your credit file and pass your details on to a CRA for 'enfircement'. If you don't need a replacement phone, your existing contract won;t end, it rolls on as before, with the incentive that your prices remain fixed, and if you want to leave you can - just by giving 30 days notice.

If you are credit checked and fail (as part of n upgrade) they may request a deposit for a few months, all this despite you already being a current custome. If you don't upgrade, they won't check.

the phone needs replacing, and i pay no more than about £28 a month inc, thats will extra calls to say 0845 numbers etc and VAT. the actual contract was £23 a month. I get unlimited texts and 500 mins, which is great as i have no landline. Its nice to know the phone is always there.

I got a deal on this contract for handing in old handset and a loyalty discount. Should have been £35 a month at the time.

So i was hoping i could do the same again and get a further knocked off price, my sister has already said she would have it in her name if need be.

I would say, yes you can negotiate, I just negotiated for a handset that was only supposedly available on a £35 per month contract for £25 a month, I have been a customer for many years, and regularly do this, you need to know which phone you want and how much it is being offered for on other providers.

ok i will do my research. I would like the samsung tocca phone.

Does anyone have a direct email contact of someone in sales? I never get a response from orange if i write via post and sometimes the call centre is useless!

I'd like what i have now for say £20 a month, plus the above phone!

Hi, your best bet for a decent upgrade deal is to ring through and select option 4 'thinking of leaving' this will put you through to the disconnections dept. aske them what they can offer you to stay and you will probably find some good deals/discounts being offered.

Have a good idea of the phone you want (the Tocco is good - i have one!) they can work out what to offer from there.

Dont worry about credit check, it is a load of tosh telling you there will be a credit check on an upgrade, it just doesnt happen!!! you are a present customer and have built a good history with the network, they have absolutely no need to credit check you again. would be a different story if starting fresh with another contract on diff network though.

if they cant offer any different deals, you can stay on your existing 'plan' and just take the phone, you may then be able to negotiate a 12mnth term, but dont get your hopes up!

Good luck and happy shopping.
