Hi,

A quick hello, as suggested when you first join the site, and a query about how you moderate members here. From what I understand you can put a member on moderation, which means their messages get vetted. What are the protocols that are followed before a member is put on moderation?

Many thanks,

G

Not to sure as to why your asking.

All I can suggest is that you click on user forums and scroll down to the bottom of your screen and you will see the user list. On there some names will be in a funny reddish colour. They are the site team. If your question has not been answered soon, just PM one of them and ask them.

Thanks for the link, but it doesn't say a lot about the protocols used when putting a person on moderation, such as if you inform them of why, how long you put them on for, etc etc etc. Can any moderator expand on that? I'm just interested to find out if there is a policy of if it is an arbitrary decision by an individual moderator.

As with any forum there has to be some order-and some rules.

Moderation is not done as a matter of course, the decision has to reflect a number of things, all of which would be taken into account.

I am not a party to everyones modding policies and protocols on the internet but I would imagine ours are probably the same as most.

Reading the rules will give you an insight into some of the things that may result in moderation for a user-and that in itself should not need too much explaining.

As with all public forums now and again things need to be looked at and maybe revised or changed-Cag has always strived to give everyone the the opportunity to debate and inform whilst at the same time making the experience a benefit to all.

I am sure you will know, sometimes in the course of trying to achieve that (especially with a member base as large as Cags) ..that now and again there becomes a need for individual moderation.

Being as this is your first post OP, can we safely assume that you are either:

a) a pre-existing member who is now under moderation; or

b) planning to make a post that you feel may put you under moderation?

Lets hope neither is the case.

Neither. I came on because a mate has been moderated on here. He hasn't been treated very fairly, messages ignored, not given a reason why he was moderated. If banks treated someone the way CAG have treated him there would be lots of shouting and excitement and accusations, but it seems its ok for mods to treat him unfairly and ignore his messages. Very nice.

Fair enough, I stand corrected.

The mods dont usually act like that so I would suggest it is a genuine oversight. I'm sure a mod will be around sooner or later and sort the issue...
