I see Citi Cards here, but no Citibank regular banking, has anyone tried yet?

I sent the template letter to citibank last week. Got a reply yesterday which basically state that their charges are not penalty charges and that if I am dissatisfied with customer service, I should get in touch with the ombusman. I intent to reply. They did not even attempt to address the issue and even mention that they would be investigating. At one stage, I was being charged £50 GBP in bank charges.

 

Oh yes, they said that they can justify the charges because it pays for administration associated with dealing with overcharge.

i notice that citibank do not subscribe to the banking code, does this affect anything?

It makes no difference whether they subscribe to the Banking Code or not.

 

The Banking Code is merely a set of guidelines the banks have agreed to follow with the Ombudsman.

 

The fact is, the charges are unlawful. The law is on your side here, so go for it!

i understand the legal case for the charges, i was just noting that citibank had advised eniola to contact the ombudsman, yet am also aware that they are not subscribers to the banking code. i wondered if this affected their relationship with the ombudsman

They want their cake and eat it. But we are going to take it away from them altogether :twisted:

just before christmas citibank charged me £25 for not honouring a direct debit for £5 in favour of "help the aged"

 

they certainly aren´t a charitable wunch

just for the record, if the DPA letter authorises citibank to deduct £10 from one's account, then that is exactly what they do, with the statement annotation "copy statement fee"
