  8. yes it is a business account, transaction costs are itemised as businesses do not normally get "free banking", at least my business doesn't but you are right, it would in my opinion be a fair assumption to make that if paying a direct debit can cost 38 pence, then not paying a direct debit ought to cost something similar
  9. i am just heading though my statements and it is quite revealing, i have a business account, and although i wasn't aware of it i pay per transaction. the per item pricing for the period 30 july 2005 to 2 september 2005 is as follows BACS direct debits 4 @ 0.38 = £1.52 other automated debits 21 @ 0.40 = £8.40 cheques and other debits 4 @ 0.67 = £2.68 manual credits 3 @ 0.70 = £2.10 cheques paid in branches 3 @ £0.84 am i getting unecessarily excited or is this NWB revealing the true cost of transactions along with a fair and reasonable profit?
  10. ok i am now furnished with bank statements for the life of my company, am i safe to proceed without full disclosure? what are the implications of me acting on behalf ofmy company?
  11. chastise me if this info is in the FAQ section, but i have looked and cannot find an answer. if i have been charged a late payment penalty fee and this has been charged to a credit card account, i have been paying interest on this amount ever since have i not? is there a way of varying the 8% calculator xls. for a rate of say 16.9%?
  12. turns out that not only do my bank charge me for bouncing a direct debit, but the AA also do when my car insurance instalment is not paid. full schedule of £20.00 "adminsitration fees" has been requested
  13. ok it was a tongue in cheek posting, i am selling one property and remortgaging the other anyway, but it is reassuring to know that they cannot ask me to close my account and repay my mortgage.
  14. just for the record, if the DPA letter authorises citibank to deduct £10 from one's account, then that is exactly what they do, with the statement annotation "copy statement fee"
  15. A bit off topic, but try as i may, i am unable to get a direct line to my bank's branch, as promised in their advertising campaigns. I have specifically been told by my branch that i have to call via the call centre to speak to someone in the branch. i have lodged an online complaint with the advertising standards authority complaining that their M&C Saatchi advertisements are simply untrue and lying to us. being on the receiving end of the odd ASA enquiry myself, i can assure you all that it is a horribly lumpy and bothersome waste of time contesting their enquiry letters. complaints can be made at http://www.asa.org.uk
  16. what dedication! i am setting up a "parachute mortgage"
  17. sorry ignore the above, I can cut out the DPA stage simply by visiting my accountant and asking him to tell me the extent of my charges.
  18. i was all set to move my personal banking to natwest where my business account exists. then this happened http://www.bankactiongroup.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2235 advice welcome regarding the ins and outs of pursuing this within the context of a business account. DPA request to be sent today.
  19. I have sent the standard DPA letter to future mortgages with whom i have 2 accounts. they have replied referencing one of my accounts and asked for a cheque for £25 for the production of a statement. Having read the FAQ page, i am about to remind them of their obligations under the DPA, however given that they are one entity, and i am another (the data subject) does it matter that i have 2 accounts or can I request data for both accounts with a single £10 DPA fee?
  20. just before christmas citibank charged me £25 for not honouring a direct debit for £5 in favour of "help the aged" they certainly aren´t a charitable wunch
  21. i understand the legal case for the charges, i was just noting that citibank had advised eniola to contact the ombudsman, yet am also aware that they are not subscribers to the banking code. i wondered if this affected their relationship with the ombudsman
  22. i notice that citibank do not subscribe to the banking code, does this affect anything? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/1492938.stm
  23. I see Citi Cards here, but no Citibank regular banking, has anyone tried yet? My DPA letter sent out yesterday M
