In August, I purchased some Aveda perfume from a US ebay seller, paying via paypal.

When I finally received it, many weeks later, it was clear that it was not Aveda; I wouldn't like to say what it was.

I contacted the seller, who agreed to refund the cost, on receipt of returned goods.

I filed a complaint with paypal,as I felt that dodgy perfume could be very dangerous if applied to the skin, plus, I wasn't happy about having to pay shipping costs to and from America for shoddy goods.

Paypal said I would be entitled to a refund of the cost of the goods (but not postage), once the seller confirmed re-delivery of the perfume.

I sent off the perfume.

In the meantime, the postal strike took hold, and then paypal said the case was closed, because a certain amount of time had lapsed.

The seller does not respond to emails (unsurprisingly), and I have had no refund from paypal or the seller, so have pid for the perfume and for sending it back!

The seller had positive feedback from buyers, so I assumed he was trustworthy; however, I assume that these were US buyers.

Ebay has advised me to contact the police, although the latter are not too interested in the case, given the relatively small amount of money involved (though it was not to me!) and the fact that the fraudulent selling took place halfway across the world.

Is there anything I can do???

If you funded the paypal payment using your credit card, the simplest and easiest thing to do would be to contact your credit card company and ask them to do a chargeback.

Ebay were clamping down on people selling fake goods on the site so hopefully if you've reported the seller they may end up removed (if other people do the same)
