Hi guys, not noticed this question on the forum, but sorry if i've missed it.

What is the best way to pay the £10 DPA fee?

Sadly I don't have a cheque book, and I doubt they will take it out of my account (as it is over the over draft limit).

Also could the fact the maximum fee for having the bank find, print and send all data they hold on us being £10 add to the weight that charges / fee's for banks posting an automated letter are excessive? - if so how could it be successfully used in an argument?!

Cheers

Chris

You could get postal orders from the post office, however, I think a cheque is the best way as you can see when it has been cashed. Prehaps someone could write a cheque for you? My sister has no cheque book and sometimes I feel like her banker without the penalty charges!

The £10 limit was set by the DPA Act and not the banks.

First Direct - £2791.84 received in full and final settlement.

Cahoot - Agreed to settle for full amount of £2024

Abbey National - AQ questionnaire returned and 50% offered

Lloyds Bank - AQ questionnaire returned

Hi Chris,

If you send your DPA request to your local branch, by recorded delivery, and include a £10 note in the envelope, you should be okay.

Alternatively, you could deliver it by hand, and ask someone in the branch to sign for receipt.

Good luck.

Cheers guys, I slipped a tenner in the envelope and sent it recorded delivery!

Thanks for your help - I'm sure I'll be back for more soon!
