Hi

I'm new to all this

I managed to get my statements eventually, calcuated interest and wrote the letter claiming my charges back to Barclays - however I think I sent it to the wrong place after reading things on here. I sent it my branch....... is this the wrong thing to do? Should I have sent it to the Head office? Or to the address on the letter that came with my statements? They are different........

Also, does it matter that I included the interest in the first letter? Should I have waited to include that?

Thanks for any help

The key question here is (IMHO) is "Did you send it recorded delivery?"

If so, you should be able to verify that Barclays have received it - delivery to the branch shouldn't affect it's onward despatch to the correct department.

If not, it's a bit trickier. You could send it again (direct to the correct head office address) with a covering letter saying 'originally sent to xxx branch on xx/xx/xx'.

ALWAYS send letters Recorded (Signed For) Delivery. (First Class is £1.00.) You can check online for delivery (and print it off for your case file).

Take a bit of time and look through the Barclays area of the site and familiarise yourself with the various departments and addresses. Know your enemy!

There's nothing like being sure ...

"Weasel (n): any person or group that operates in that vast grey area between good ethical behaviour and the sort of activities that might send you to jail".
