I have so much to claim, I really don't know where to start. Lloyds TSB have taken so much money i think I could open my own bank if I got it all back. Not to mention Sainsburys credit cards and capital one.

Could someone point me in the right direction please? My husband is all for jumping straight in with the letter.

Welcome.

My husband is all for jumping straight in with the letter.

Well stop him. Nail his feet to the floor

First and foremost, before you start please have a thorough read of the FAQs. This is a must, no excuses. There’s a Step by Step guide here too. You should print these out to refer to later, so as to avoid having to ask basic questions.

You need to spend 2 or 3 days gradually getting your head round everything. If you find a forum/thread/post of interest, save it in your Favourites, so as you can always find it easily. Here’s one to start with, which you should find useful later:

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/welcome-our-forum/53241-cant-find-what-youre.html

There’s a lot to take in, but it’s time well spent and will ensure that you succeed in your claim without problems. Remember it’s not a race, don’t rush, just follow the guidelines one step at a time

This is a self-help forum and you must be prepared to put in the time and effort required. It’s your claim, your money and you cannot expect others to do all the work for you.

Then look at other threads in your bank’s forum, so as you know what you can expect to happen. At the top of each bank’s forum is a Successes forum where you can follow previous claims against your bank from start to finish.

When you feel confident that you understand the process and the various stages involved, start a new thread in your bank’s forum and post your progress and any questions there and you’ll get plenty of help. Always stick to one thread, so people can see what you’ve done so far and therefore can give you better advice.

The FAQ’s, Step by Step Guide and all the info to get you started are here:

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/faqs-please-read-these/

Finally the Moderators and Site Helpers are having to spend far too much time dealing with unnecessary and avoidable errors in claims caused by impatience, ignorance or just plain laziness. If you don’t know what to do next, ask. If you don’t understand something, ask. It might be a dumb question, but it’s a lot easier to sort out than a dumb mistake.

Good luck

I wish to find out what is owed to me. I understand there is a charge for this but charges are different for each bank. What is the charge for Lloyds TSB I don't want to give them any more than they have already taken. Is it £10?

Thank you.

  • 1 month later...

We have recieved the list of charges for the last 6 years. What do we do now? I have looked at the site and being a bit daft I'm not really sure where to go from here.

Do we have to do spreadsheets or something? We have carges of almost £3000. My husband being the very organised person that he is, has statements going back some 15 yrs. Do we include those now or wait until the first lot are dealt with?

God I wish I was a bit cleverer.

Hi

Right you need to fill in one of the spreadsheets:

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/182-6-interest-calculation-spreadsheets.html

Are you and your husband doing seperate claims?

Once you have added it up, you need to send the Preliminary letter:

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/671-2-letter-preliminary-approach.html

Send it to:

Have a read at this link to help you with the process:

Got a reply to our request for a refund. I think it's pretty standard but just need to check this part.

"The office of fair trading has published new guidlines on credit card default charges. We're still talking it through with them, butthe important point is that the guidlines are about "default" charges that people pay when they break an agreement with us. This doesn't aplyto your charges as these were for dealing with your request to go over your agreed overdraft limit. they are not default charges because you haven't broken your agreement. They are our prices for the services we provide in these situations."

Is this standard or is there something we need to do?

Looks like standard LTSB drivel to me.;)

Tis indeed. You'll get used to that soon enough, Starling. Lloyds are good at drivel. In fact its the only area in which they excel!:D

Please remember to DONATE! Help CAG keep up the fight!
