It's your claim and your decision Maleo, but I think I would carry on for the interest too. As long as you are happy with the settlement that's all that matters. Once you get your money I'll change the title of your thread and move it to the successes forum.

Thanks Caro. I'm happy with the money, as it's all I needed. Posted the acceptance letter this morning, and will let you know as soon as the chq lands on the doormat!

Do!!! I'm convinced that it must have helped - I've not heard anyone so far who have received a full settlement (granted, no interest - but that was at the court's discretion anyway) before a claim is issued. Maybe CCing my letter saying sod off to the last charge to David whatsit helped, maybe it was the complaint to the FO about how useless they are, maybe it was the mention that I had complained to the data commissioner about their lack of attached notes to my records........ I'd go for the lot - only takes 10 mins, and might save some time for everyone. I just went for anything and anyone I could write to that might help, and one of them seems to have worked.

I really hope you get yours sorted soon. I'll keep reading your thread, but let me know how it goes!!! :-)

Dave

Excellent news maleo. I think you've made a wise decision too.

I too think Ms Short's involvement had a little impact here :-)

lol - I hope it goes well! I got a letter from her this morning with a copy attached from the HSBC - they'd replied to her saying they would sort it to "our mutual satisfaction" - go Clare Short! :)

Who is your MP, netty?

Think it's Gisela - just had a look on her website - she's Edgbaston, Harbourne, Quinton and Bartley Green.

Hey Maleo congratulations on your victory! Just about to start claiming back my bank charges and read how you had conatced your MP. Thinking of writing to mine and cc her on the prelim i send to the bank any thougts? Which address did you use for the HSBC David Lewis @ Canada Sq. London?

Hi there,

I asked my MP to write to both David Lewis and to Colin Langdale, who was the guy dealing with my issues... However, if you're just starting off, I'd get your prelim off first, then speak to your MP about getting involved. If they're supportive, you could get them to send a letter to whoever deals with your claim at HSBC's end and to David Lewis at the same time you send your LBA.

Don't know if this works, or if it's what made a difference, but it's worth a shot!!

Good luck!

Dave

JUST GOT THE CHEQUE! :)

Mind you, the letter accompanying it said that they'd initially tried to put it into one of the now defunct bank accounts.... I wonder if I shall get two cheques?

What would be the appropriate procedure if this was the case? Take it, invest it, and give them a £ a month back, whilst accruing 15% through a bond account with the Lloyds? It would only be like they've done to me... tee hee!

Anyway, I'm now going to open a lunchtime bottle of champers to celebrate, after I've dropped the cheque off at the bank!

Good cheer to all, have a fab weekend!

Dave

Well done Maleo!

You look familiar......

I don't know about familiar but not old enough to have bank charges. Are you over 18 Maleo?;)

Anyway congratulations, and don't forget the survey.
