Our car got stolen, was found and now written off.

We want it back but its miles away from us.

My question is,

is it the insurance company's responsibility to bring the car back to us? As we need to spend a lot of money to have it transported back to us.

Just need to know what does people think.

Thank you

If it's written off it belongs to the Insurance Company not you.

You won't get it back but you should be offered the opportunity to get any personal items from the car by arranging that with your insurance company.

Has it actually been written off, or has the insurance coy simply said that it Will be deemed an uneconomic repair and offered a sum in settlement? Until they have paid the agreed sum, it still belongs to you (or a finance coy if applicable).

Unfortunately any recovery costs will be down to you unless there is a clause in your policy that covers them - don't know of any companies that have such a term, but it is always a possibility with some specialist insurers such classic cars.

If you explain the circumstance more accurate  opinions can be formed.

Typically,

it would be the responsibility of the owner of the vehicle to arrange for transportation of the car from its current location to a desired location.

However, it may be worth checking your insurance policy to see if it includes any provisions for transportation of the car after it has been recovered.

Additionally, you may be able to negotiate with your insurance company to cover the cost of transportation as part of your settlement.

It's best to contact your insurance company and ask them what options are available to you.
