Boris Johnson, former Prime Minister

Recommended Posts

Possibly. A lot of people think Johnson lied about nearly everything all of the time, not just covid.

If you mean the behavioural insight team nudge unit rather than Cummings, I don't have a problem with people being cautious about the beginning of an unknown virus epidemic. I have a problem with people, especially a PM, who passed laws and then assumed they were only for the little people.

If you read what I posted, they don't say the official narratives were all accurate, they deciphered what was out there. Full Fact are independent.

And they disproved some conspiracy theories.

Do you have any objective investigations to show us or is it the result of your five to 10 minutes online please?

Well, I didn't see the resignation coming.

Instead of replying to the privileges committee, Johnson has blamed everyone else for the position he's in and flounced off before he was forced into a by-election. I thought he might want to stand as MP for Henley but it seems the candidacy would have to be approved by Sunak and journos don't seem to think that he will.

Boris as leader of the oppostion, anyone?

Boris who?  I think he will disappear mostly, apart from writing newspaper columns designed to annoy the people he dislikes the most.

He has young children to help bring up and earns more from making speeches, writing columns and books etc. As a politician, going by media coverage, he was struggling financially to cover all of his outgoings, so I suspect, he was looking to stop being a politician soon anyway.

A recent poll for Uxbridge constituency, which took into account tactical voting, had Labour on about 50% and Tories on about 38%.

Boris Johnson deliberately misled parliament on partygate, MPs find

The former prime minister claimed that he was advised by senior officials that both Covid rules and guidance had been complied with at all times in No 10 during the pandemic.
However, the privileges committee, a parliamentary standards body that has investigated Johnson, has concluded that officials did not advise him that social-distancing guidelines had been followed, despite him repeatedly making the claim in the Commons. One of his most senior officials in fact warned him against making such a claim on the basis it was “unrealistic”.

Johnson: “The privileges committee should publish their report and let the world judge their nonsense. They have no excuse for delay.”

He sent a letter to the committee just before midnight yesterday that has held up publication.

Nadine Dorries has sent a SAR to Holac demanding all correspondence. This is from the Times newsletter today.

Last night Dorries said she would wait until she had seen the results of her Freedom of Information and subject access requests to the House of Lords Appointments Commission and Cabinet Office for minutes and messages about her peerage. Alas, she's about to learn that she has no access to her personal data processed for the honours system under schedule 2, paragraph 15(1) of the Data Protection Act 2018.

I was based in Government offices during covid and the social distancing was strictly applied. Buildings had direction arrow tapes for one way only systems, so staff did not cross on stairs and in corridors etc. All face to face meeting were cancelled and replaced by virtual online meetings.

If Government offices around the UK were sticking strictly to the rules that applied, you would question why 10 Downing Street appeared to have a different set of rules.

I think you could take 'Government' out of your last sentence, UB. My OH's office was the same, with strict anti-Covid measures and I'm sure most offices were.

I noticed the comment in the article about people deleting photos, etc once there were signs of an investigation. I have a feeling that I read at the time about someone high up in no10 or the Cabinet Office telling officials to do that. That should be pursued IMO.
