Since Feb 2015 I have been in a "special arrangement" with Vanquis Credit card.

The deal was to repay a fixed sum each month to clear a load of spend on my card including a lot of interest.

This arrangement was due to complete at end of September.

In return would reduce my balance by the amount paid plus an addtional 25% of interest.

Additionally they agreed to reactivate my card.

At the end of August i called them to pay the penultimate amount, to confirm the September payment would be the last one and to arrange to get my card reactivated All was good and the last payment was made.

However they have now told me the information given to me at the end of August was incorrect and thst there is a final amount of £230 to pay but because the "final" payment was not made on time the "special arrangement" has been withdrawn and the card will not be reactivated and I will not receive the discount of 25%.

Vanquis have stated that they checked the telephone conversation and the advice given was incorrect and although their agent was wrong to tell me what he did, this does not change the fact that there remained a balance still due.

I have written, emailed and phoned but they will not reply.

Incidentally I have sent details of all dates and amounts paid to prove to them that ALL payments have been made as per the agreement but no response.

Me thinks they are playing a very deceitful game to get back their balance off the card plus interest they promised to discount.

Has anyone else suffered anything similar with Vanquis and do you think the Ombudsman would be interested?

Thanks in anticipation.

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Yes and Yes...

Vanquis make up their own rules as they go along.

Complain further up the chain.

FOS will also be an option. If youve been promised something, Ideally they have to honour it.

We could do with some help from you.

Agree, formal complaint to the top - you have proof that your payments have been made on time therefore one of their arguments erased. At the very least they have misled you and this is not allowed.

If they don't provide a satisfactory response, then escalate your complaint to the FOS. I would then try and find another card provider as Vanquis are no better than a revolving PDL, IMHO !
