I have just purchased a car off ebay for £670 (cash)... as part of the description it stated:

"this car is only being sold as spares or repairs due to 1 of our employers dropped the key and lost the chip out of it ,then did not tell us so he then burnt the starter out trying to start it lol ,dont have to say much more just what a pratt,so it will need a chip and reprogramming or second hand ecu and a starter motor this will be a good car when done "

After having the car collected and delivered to my work i have since found that the story about the key being dropped and losing the imobiliser chip is untrue. The key is fine however the engine timming chain has jumped causing the engine to break. To repair the engine would cost well over £1000.

I have been mis lead with this purchase. I have not contacted the seller about this prblem yet as unsure how to procede. What should i do?

im no legal eagle...... but they do state the car is being sold for parts or repair..... really the fact the car is being sold as faulty, surely you shouldve had a quick check done on the car.

I wish you good luck.
