hi this is a kinda weird one but hopefully you will get the gist of it right here goes...... we live in "TEMPORARARY ACCOMADATION" ie a caravan and our electric has always been very expensive 30p per unit but the landlord has now put our meter up to 35p a unit we feel he is harrassing us cos we have put our names on the council to get a flat what can i do

Only organisations with electricity re-sale (supply) licenses are able to make a profit on electricity.

 

In instances such as this, the most your landlord is legally able to charge is the amount he pays for it.

 

In terms of challenging him, it would be a very uncomfortable discussion, so perhaps the CAB might be best placed to assist you?

You need a link to information like that nottslad so that the OP can use it in either defence of the bill or to assist in his quest for a council flat.

hiya i have found the relevant legislation i was just coming on to thank you guys it should be fun fronting him with the bad news (he is a bad tempered little showman) lol he tends to get violent with people who cant fight back but im not to worried cos im bigger than him lol anyway im hoping all this evidence will help me with my flat it shouldnt be to much for them to bump me a little cos im normally finishing a 10 or 12 on the bidding system anyway

just spoke with consumer direct they are as much use as a chocolate fireguard they told me i have to ask the landlord to tell me how much he pays for his electric,like he is gonna tell me they live in cloud cockoo land i think so much for protection of vulnererable people maybe i should just turn up at council with copy of the koran they would soon help me then
