Hi- In both 2005 and 2006 I received a penalty notice for non payment of car tax. Both times, I paid the fine and it was marked as an out of court settlement. I am now applying to join the police and need to declare all previous convictions. Would this be deemed a conviction?

Were you caught on the roads or was it a "time out" on the driveway (ie not taxed and not sorn either)?

If the rozzers were involved It'll count

If it was DVLA admin stuff then not so

Either way, it won't prevent you from joining.

However this may be a moot point right now because you proably won't find a force that is recruiting for the forseeable future. Many already have a 2 or 3 year backlog of successful applicants who are not being given start dates due to the recent budgetary cuts.

Good luck all the same.

This is not a criminal conviction, therefore would not appear on CRB checks. However it would appear for any position requiring SC (as it is in your case)...
