Hi Cornetgirl,

Many thanks for the reply!

The loan is with Payday express

Unfortunately as loosing the job happened pretty much last minute I did not have enough time to have my direct debits transferred over...however I will do so as soon as they clear for this month.

I have already cancelled the old card, and am keeping only limited funds in the account which will only cover the priority direct debit payments. Any other funds have been transferred to the new account (within the same bank).

So hopefully I should be OK with the above steps and they would not be able to force any payment through...rite?

I think you've done all you can to protect your funds given the situation. Most companies don't force through payments (PM me the name of the company and I'll let you know if it's one I'm dealing with) but one other way to give yourself some protection is to write to your bank, telling them that you are currently in dispute with XYZ Payday Loans over the outstanding amount and that any attempt to force through a payment on your old card or set up a direct debit or standing order is not authorised by you and should be treated as fraud. I did that to cover myself.

It is highly unlikely that they will force your old card through but some people have been unfortunate - the majority, luckily, have been fine. Keep strong and stay positive!

Hey xeonedbody - make sure to let payday express no that you have lost your job and that you can pay x amount per month in order to get the debt paid off. they will ask for proof that you have lost your job to which you should show them - they will agree to direct payments.

they will attempt taking the payment tomorrow and not having the new card details and sufficient funds in account they payment will not go through

following your advise i will also give them a call tomorrow to let them know that i do not have sufficient means to cover the payment and that i lost my job etc..

however as i lost my job fairly recently etc and did not have enough time to notify them until well today...as i will inform them on the day they expect to recover the payment...would this still be ok?

Tell them its been very difficult for you which is why you left it till the last second - they should be fine. Dont ignore them if they call, just be firm and answer and keep explaining to them that you lost your job but would like to pay them a certain amount per month, beginning today (if you can it will help alot to show your integrity) until the debt is cleared.

hi all, well sucess after a long hard slog. Got all payday loans to freeze interest and a monthly payment in writing but missing a few teeth for the venture lol. No seriously it was a pressure but less than wondering how to feed my kids ! or make a journey to work wondering if the flashing red petrol light will get me there at all never mind home after. My advice is get out of this cycle of shark debt by working out a bugdet of what you can live off , all esential bills paid, food petrol etc and any surplus divide between the number of payday loans. So if you have 100 left over per month and 5 payday loans offer them 20 each. Do not budge and put yourself at risk from the pressure these companies put on you to pay anymore than you have worked out you can afford. If your strapped for cash postage wise email them and keep every copy as evidence. That way if they continue to ignore you you have evidence that you have tried to contact them. Ask for email/wriiten responce only. Report card as stolen, not lost. Set up standing orders only, no d debits and dont suffer in silence. I have received lots of support on here and will try and help others in the same mess if i can. Love up to robjam, cornet and shanti x:)

Lovely message jellycubes.....and good, sound advice.

It's may seem frightening before you take any action, but once you do, it gives you control over the situation. Am sure we've all discovered that it's not nearly as bad as we were dreading either!

And again to second what jelly as just said, we are all here to support you as best we can.....we are not alone. xxx

Awww bless you jellycubes! You've been so strong and I'm really proud of you and all of us who've been going through it!

I'm waiting to go to a DCA with Quickquid and just have one more to agree to a payment plan. It CAN be done. If you're lurking please post and we'll all advise you on what the best course of action is. It is nowhere near as scary as you think it's going to be, so please let us help you!

Big thanks and love from me to my PDL pals too since we're sharing the love - especially robjam, jelly, shanti and Jamie. I'm looking forward to paying it forward.

Well done jelly. Your now the one in control.

The other good thing is there is additional help on this forum, the likes of you, cornet and shanti seem more than happy to help others. Jamie is also a welcome addition.

We can all make life difficult for these pDl companies- they will have to play nice:D

I'll get the virtual bubbly out - doesn't cost anything!

Seriously though, if you are lurking PLEASE post - between us we've dealt with most of the PDL companies that are out there so we can offer you advice - including what NOT to do as well as what to do! We all make mistakes in life and being in debt is not a crime. What these companies do is barely legalised loan sharking though and we need to fight them.
