Good afternoon Janis

I'm also a relatively new cagger, but I'll try to pass on my experience.

I contacted the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS), who are a registered charity, and they set me up on a Debt Management Plan (DMP) for my creditors.

I must admit stayed well away from a trust deed as it affected any equity I have left in my house.

One of the creditors have got a wee bit up themselves and have proceeded to take me to court, but there are a couple of avenues open to me take, including a Debt Arrangement Scheme. I suppose that it can be viewed as a step towards bankruptcy, but I prefer to view as a step away.

Please contact the CCCS, they are free, understanding and very helpful.

Regards

George

  • 4 weeks later...

If you're a homeowner you should seriously consider avoiding Trust Deeds, read the above fact-sheets.

I would also advise on choosing a DAS over a DMP any day of the week; the added protection you get is well worth it.
