Hi, I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum... please feel free to move the post!

Yesterday evening I was attempting to book a holiday via Thomas Cook's website. All went well untill I tried to complete the order. I had left the flight details in my 'basket' for too long and they had expired, however I didn't know this, and nor did their website seemingly check for it. Partly my own fault but not really the issue.

What's happened is that the money has come out of my bank account, but Thomas Cook claim because the order failed that they never received it. They advise me that they have merely requested payment, but not 'taken' it, and if I want them to manually process the order I need to get an authorisation code for this transaction from my bank. Naturally the bank aren't having it and are merely repeating that the money has left my account.

I'm not too familiar with the process but I think I might be right in saying both parties are correct to an extent, and I suspect that if I just leave it the money will return to my account at some point. However I'd like to get the holiday booked ASAP but I'm at a loss with what to take for the next step. Neither my bank nor Thomas Cook are budging from the position that it is up to the other party.

Any and all advice welcome and appreciated.

your bank is talking rubbish

they can trace exactly where the money is in the system.

if they say they can't, then ask to speak to the fraud section, they will be able to do it.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Well the bank are putting a trace on it, although the lady sounds bemused as to why Thomas Cook wouldn't have the money. Will see what happens.

Thanks

Looks like what's happened is that Thomas Cook has requested the money but due to the failure the electronic confirmation hasn't gone through and the transaction has not fully completed. What should happen is after 48 hours the funds should re-appear in your account.
