Hi, Last week I sent a recorded delivery letter to MBNA with a CCA request and a £1 postal order

Today I received my original letter back and a one sentence letter asking to to request the CCA and send £1 cheque or PO.

What are they up to, and why do you think they have deliberately lost my PO.

What do you think I should do, because I can ss this heppening again if I send another PO.

I find this sort of behaviour outrageous

Did you staple the postal order to the letter? If not, then they've probably lost it.

I made sure that the po was crossed, stapled to the letter and I also scanned the letter with the postal order on. Belt and braces but it worked!!

If you feel I've helped then by all means click my star to the left...a simple "thank you" costs nothing! ;)

No it was a paper clip, I'll snd it again, surely they are not that incompetant!!!! Stapled

If it wasn't crossed then maybe an employee took it!!  Not that I believe higher mortals to be capable of such an act...but then they must be falling on hard times now with all these Caggers challenging them!! ;)

Staple it and scan it for your records. Don't hold your breath as it takes them ages to reply though. I did receive a copy of my application form dated 1999 from them yesterday so they do seem to be speeding up a little!!

Surely whether it was crossed or not,you should be able to find out if its been cashed and Where ?

Maybe worth asking in the MBNA forums whether this has happened to others.

Hello Folks!

You can establish if a Postal Order has been Cashed, but to do so you have to send a letter, they don't offer an on-line service, sadly.

I gather it takes about 14 days, I understand, but at least they can tell you if it has been Cashed or not (yet).

If they say it has not been Cashed, then make a note to ask them again in a few weeks, and again in 6 Months...just to catch out any light fingered staff at the banks who may sit on Postal Orders to cash them later.

With that in mind, always write the name of the bank as the Payee, and cross the Postal Order with two diagonal lines, and that will ensure it can only be paid into the bank account that is in the name of the Payee.

Send a letter to this Address, and quote the Postal Order Number and include a copy of the Purchase Receipt if you have that (for people reading this for the first time, always keep a copy of the Postal Order and also the Receipt from when you bought it):

Postal Order Correspondance

Post Office Limited

1 Future Walk

CHESTERFIELD

I called the Post Office and they gave me the above address, saying they could not tell me over the Phone.

Cheers,

BRW

Dear all,

Just a quick note.

If you want to find out if your postal order has been cashed you can

telephone the Postal Order Department on 01246 542091 and quote them

the voucher ID No.

It typically takes 2 weeks for them to update their systems (apparently)

but if you're sending a CCA or Subject Access Request, this shouldn't be a problem.

Best regards. :-)

I have just phoned and confirmed a postal order I sent, has been cashed. You need to quote the Voucher ID off the receipt you were given at the post office. :D
