Carer's court victory on flexible working rights | Society | The Guardian

It's not a new employment rule, though. It's a lawsuit under the DDA and flexible work, and once the final judgment comes in, it could mean a significant change for carers of disabled children. There is no final ruling yet, however and it may be some time.

Is there any specific information you need? There are already rules in place for people who work and look after a disabled person, but at the moment, it's all a bit lackadaisical, in so far that the employer must "try" to accomodate the carer if they can, and I know for a fact that a lot of them don't try very hard. This judgment could tip the balance in favour of the employee, but it's too early to tell.

Thank you for that Bookworm - it will not be before time when they is a ruling. At the moment people are being discriminated against because they are in the unfortunate position of caring for a disable child, parent, or grandparent.

We are not all in the position of MP's where we can employ members of our family to work (or not) as the case in question is at the moment. Thousand of tax payers money for doing nothing, wonderful!!!!!!!:x
