  1. Anonymous source from someone working on UC implementation. Here http://storify.com/latentexistence/anonymous-source-universal-credit-it-reset-started?utm_content=storify-pingback&utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=sfy.co-twitter&utm_campaign=&awesm=sfy.co_sB5U
  2. I can't seem to find anything similar to out situation on here so I'm hoping some of you will be able to advise. Myself, Husband and two small children live on an estate which to be honest, isn't the best and we are working hard to try and sell our house. The problem is that most of the other houses are owned by the Council and some (not all) of the tennants aren't that considerate to others or the area. This is the main situation and I want to know if I can charge the Council. Our back gate (our main entrance) leads out to a footpath and then onto the access road. Each week the wheelie bins from around twenty properties are left just outside of our gate which is fine until the people who leave rubbish bags out there upto three days before the collection allow them to be ripped open by cats. This results in my Husband and I have to pick up nappies, food tins/containers, women's sanitary products and much more. If we do not pick it up the bin men just leave it as it's not in a wheelie bin. We have complained and after a few weeks the Coucil sent out a letter to every property in our row to tell them that no one should put rubbish out before the collection time. This has just been ignored. I'm so annoyed as we pay Council Tax and the estate should be kept clean. We also have old tyres that have been discarded on the embankments. The Coucil strimmed the bank a few weeks ago and the tyres are still there. As well as the bins outside of our back gate and litter everywhere we also have piles upon piles of old rotting leaves from the oak trees on the side of the access road. I've been told that it is an offence to sweep the leaves into the access road. The Council do not clear them up. They are slippy and piling up against our fence slowly rotting and keeping the fence damp also. My last problem is that when you drive up to our back gate you of course see the for sale sign, but you also see graffiti all over the garage doors, again owned by the Council. I just feel like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. We keep our house and garden well, but the drive up to the place just shows litter, leaves, graffiti and an unkept, old estate. What else can I do? I've thought about keeping weekly photos and then charging the coucil for cleaning it all up each week. Could I do this? I've worked very hard to drag myself out of a bit of a depression and I'm trying so hard to make this year a much better one by getting out of this hell hole. We have a neighbout next door who's been raided twice and put into prison a couple of times. It just all adds up! I really hope I've explained my situation well as I'm not the best at putting things across. I hope I'll receive some feedback and help. I'm not someone who moans about things, however I need to do whatever is required to sell our house and move somewhere better.
  3. We have been with British Gas Homecare 400, for 4yrs and in those 4 yrs only had to call them out for a leak from the toliet,..... that is until the last couple of weeks. Words fail me as to how 3 different engineers found different faults yet failed to resolve the fault! We haven't had to call them out before regarding our boiler and on via tmercentral heating as the boiler is just 3yrs old. We found one morning that we had no heating or hot water and boiler was making loud banging noises, so booked an appointment for 5th April, well they didn't turn up for that one and could not offer an explanation to why no one turned up. Not impressed to start with. 15th April 1st engineer changed part in the cupboard in the bedroom where all the controls and water tank are, seemed to be working ..until the morning when due to come on via timer, boiler banging noises again radiator slighly warm thermostat no longer working. 19th April different engineer fitted yet another part upstairs in airing cupboard appeared to be working...until the morning Due to come on via timer. boiler banging noises again though we did have warm water no heating...then 25th April 3rd engineer identified blockage..went on his merry way..but guess what..Boiler banging louder than ever in the morning did not work when due to come on on the timer. Booked 4th visit for tomorrow. Not holding out much hope. I don't feel the cold as much as my husband who at 68yrs with poor circulation does. I wonder if BG will run out of engineers before they fix our problem, we were hoping for peace of mind and not having to worry about central heating breakdowns...are we just unlucky? or is this typical for the British Gas, Homecare 400 service? ARGHHHHHHH !. Not looking after My World!
  4. Hi I'm in need of some quick advice for a friend please, My friend has had the bailiffs at her door this morning for her X-boyfriend unpaid fines Her X-boyfriend hasn't lived or been with her for over 9months now, She wants to know what to tell the bailiffs as they are coming back on Friday & said they will get a lock smith out if they need to get in the house, (Nothing in the house is his) She told them he don't live there any more but they are insisting on coming back to seize goods. I told her not to let them in but she is panicking any help will be much appreciated thanks.
  5. Hi In the past few days i have been gathering info on ATOS and esa to know what to expect and it's pretty scary. I have been ill for 7 years, appealed and won my last tribunal and passed the previous medical. From what i have been reading i don't stand a chance as my condition is undiagnosed so i'm going to struggle to get backup even though i've been through a process with the doctors and hospitals to try and find out what's wrong with me. People a lot worse than me are failing but people with mental health issues apparently don't even register, is this true? I suffer with anxiety and depression due to my health and was even referred to liason pyschiatry a while ago. I'd expect to go onto esa from doing the esa test online, i have episodes where i go dizzy and nearly fall over and severe fatigue and chronic sinusitis plus breathing/cardio difficulties which combined are pretty debilitating and cause severe distress but i have adapted to it and this is partly cause of the benefits i receive, i don't know how well i would cope if it was taken away due to a semmingly brutal and unfair system. My question is whether i should even include anything physical or just focus on the mental health issues, they are intertwined. I'll have to get help from CAB filling in the form anyway but i've seen the way things are used against people and people with mental health issues don't seem to stand a chance otoh how physically sick do you have to be to pass the medical?! Other people in a similar situation to mine are being failed so i'm expecting the worst. I feel like i should include everything as it will be relevant if it comes to appeal and a tribunal, it's gonna take some effort for me to fill out the forms and any extra information. I'm trying to prepare as best i can for what happens next. Thanks in advance, Teej
  6. Ok, other than this i am totally debt free, and iv'e never had any debt before so i am a complete novice when it comes to collection agencys. I opened up an account on very.co.uk whilst i was working almost 3 years ago. Everthing was going fine until i became ill and had to quit my job as i was unable to do it anymore, thus i was left with £1,400 to pay them. I did actually get this down to around £1200 until late payment charges bumped it back up again i guess. I didnt pay them for a good 4 or 5 months. And i recieved this letter from Lowell Portfolio I Ltd informing me they had purchased my loan from very.co.uk. And it now stands at £1590. Now if it was 1200 then i wouldnt minde paying off the debt each month via direct debit, But im unsure what to say when i call them, Because i feel the charges were unfair, My credit limit with very.co.uk was only 1,400. Yet i now owe 1590 ?? It just doest seem right. And i would like some advice. Thank you, Richard.
  7. Hi This is my first post so please be gentle with me. I have read a lot of posts but none of them seem to be able to fully answer my questions. I will be as honest as possible and feel awful about being in this position however I Know most of you have been in a similar situation. Basically all out problems have come to ahead we cant face anymore sleepless nights and lying to ourselves that things will get better, We have come to a sudden realisation we have to do something before we both loose our marbles. Sorry if this is very wordy I'm just trying to make sure as much info is here as possible. Out problems started in 2004 we took out car finance and 24 hours after signing for the car we had changed our mind we went to tell the garage and they said we have signed therefore the car was ours (we were young and stupid and said ok ) They said we would have to sort it with the finance company. Car garage went bust 2 days later and we were stuck with the car after trying to assort things with the finance company they took the car away after 3 months now we have an outstanding debt of over £7000 for a £2000 pound car. We paid them for a few months and then stopped (again stupid but we didn't really think about the long term implications at the time) Company chased off and on for a few months and then nothing, We then had various small debts credit cards with capital one all of which probably added up to a few hundred pounds. Which we also failed to pay. 4 years later we took out a loan with welcome and was all paid up apart from one missed payment when we changed bank accounts. 12 months on we still owe them £287. It may be easier if I just list all our debts instead of writing an essay to each one Alliance and Leicester £3576.20 4/03/2002 I still have both copies of the unsigned agreement (we have never made a payment but cannot deny we have had the loan it paid for our wedding)Not written to them or had any calls so we have never updated our address with them despite several moves. (no excuses we took the loan and then never had enough money to pay them as my husband lost his job a week later) This is now with first credit who tried to offer us a discounted settlement in 25/10/2012 London and Scottish - £977 personal loan from 2003/2004 They still chase from time to time but no payments made in at least 7 years this is with Robinson way Capital one £200.01 my husbands credit card from 2002 not made payment since 2005 however we still get the occasional letter London and Scottish car finance £7061. explained above. Hastings Direct 1249.47 (recent debt) Npower £880 - Recent owing balance after moving house, Children Nursery £1300 which we have received a court summons for we have filled in the paperwork and stepchange (cccs) advised us to make an offer of payment of £23 a month to. This happened as I had all 3 children in a nursery and before and after school club to enable me to work full time. Then tax credits dropped the amount of money we received and we could no longer afford the luxury of me going to work, (a complete other issue however I cant believe we managed to get into more debt trying to work and do the right thing) Nhs overpayment - I owe them £564 Welcome finance £287 this is recent (last 2 years. We have discussed the situation with stepchange and they have provided us with a fairly manageable budget (we know it wont be easy) to start e debt management plan taking 6 years and 7 months to pay off at a rete of £189 a month which we should be able to mange with. It feels so good someone helping us take control however scary at the same time. (we are still in the process of deciding weather to sign and go ahead with the dmp. My questions are - I spoke to someone who advised me that going back and paying the debts that have dropped off our credit file will make it worse for us in the long run as it will damage our credit file more for being honest and paying the debts. We literally have no current credit except a £400 overdraft with our current account which we have only used in an emergency. Hopefully we will need no further credit ever except I would like a mortgage one day. (I can never see this happening though) So do we fess up and pay the old debts? my only fear is making the situation a whole lot worse, I don't want to leave off the old debts and pay off the newer ones then the old ones come back to haunt us and have to start a dmp all over again. I'm really sorry about all the useless info I'm just trying to give everyone a clear picture. My husband and I know we should have dealt with this sooner sometimes burying out head in the sand seemed easier. But receiving the court summons was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. I'm tired, 8 years of sleepless night ignoring telephone numbers I don't recognise and generally looking over out shoulder is taking its toll. Please can someone offer some advise, We will be taking a dmp either way we are not strong enough or organised to fight this on our own, But I just don't know what to do about the old debts, I appreciate we have had the money and should pay like everybody else I know someone is going to say that. but I'm so scared of making a bad situation worse. I'm sorry if there is way too much info here once I started it all came pouring out, Thanks in advance N
  8. Hi there, PLease can someone advise me of this. In 1996 my family came to live in the UK on ancestry visa's via my mum who has a british passport. To cut a long story short, my brother got involved with drugs and petty crime etc and failed to meet the requirements of the visa to stay out of trouble with the law, maintaining a job etc...He was arrested for theft and placed in prison and his Zimbabwean passport held by Home Office. He never claimed the passport back for fear that he may be deported. Eventually, we wrote to the home office after he was clean and behaving himself for about 3 years and asked for them to consider re-issuing a visa etc... they said he should return to his home country to apply and so he did in 2010. Ever since then, we have never regretted anything more. He applied for the visa and refused immediatley based on his crimial record. We are so gutted as our whole family are living in the UK and he is stuck out there completely on his own with no home or family and is struggling to survive. Can anythig be done to bring him back? His parents, brothers and sisters and whole family live in the UK. Please help! Many thanks
  9. I am thinking about giving up, so that I can look after my dad. His health is detiorating very quickly every day, and my mum is finding it increasingly difficult to cope when im out at work Does anybody know what benefits I would be allowed to claim (if any), bearing in mind that I am giving up a perfectly good job? I want to be there to help him as much as I can, after all he has looked after me all my life, so now its my turn to look after him
  10. Hi, I am receiving housing benefits, the landlord has told me to move out by 18th October because they need the room. I have paid the rent til the 18th. I had big trouble finding this room because people dont want to rent out to people on benefits and many of them cant give you a tenancy agreement because they are not allowed to rent out rooms. If I find a room now, will I be able to get HB for that room now or wont I get it until the 19th? I am worried that I wont find a room with an agreement but at the same time I cant pay a room on my own if I find one tomorrow. I am scared of ending up in a hostel since I have bad experience from that and they wouldnt pay all of that. I live in East London now but I am interesting in a room anywhere in London.
  11. On this occassion I am looking for a recommendation for a car hire company from Glasgow airport that does not require a credit card. i havent used a credit card for 5 years (and havent needed one) only debit/electron cards. The major suppliers seem to need a credit card to hold a deposit. Do you know of anyone that hires without one please.
  12. Hello, I have recently applied to rent a property through Fraser Wood with my partner. My credit score is 420 (very poor) due to reduced hours at work 2 years ago. I have since earned promotion and I earn a substantial ammount with guaranteed 45 hours per week salary. My partners dad has acted as guarantor for her (he earns £144,000 per year) Are the chances of us getting this property slim or do we stand a good chance? I would hate to miss out on it as it is a lovely house.
